The exam is a combination of an A+ certification and history of the computer. Not a hard test at all, you'll do fine.

Took the test 3 years ago when I was 14 and passed with a 428, it is not a hard test. If you should study anything, I would study terms of computers, such as what html is. Just the stuff you don't run into every day. History of computers in general is important. Other than that you should be able to pass if you use a computer.

My son studied 3-4 hours total and scored 485 might have been 465. I hate that I can't remember numbers. By the way He's 15 yrs.

I passed this test with 427 in November 2012. Here's the feedback I posted then.
--Definitely not a hard test; I put less than 2 weeks of very sporadic study into it. --I used the Petersons DSST Guide, got 75% on the pretest and 78% on the post-test. This was my primary resource and it was excellent! --Wish I'd studied more: expert systems, OOP, spreadsheets and databases. --If you've ever used Microsoft Word, you already know a lot of what you need. --The Qs on the Internet were really easy. --Didn't get to use it much, but this site is really good for this test: Introduction to Computers - A Guide for Beginners

This is a relatively easy test, especially if you are already tech-savvy. InstantCert flashcards were our primary source of study, & were excellent for this exam (which we took & passed in August 2012) - definitely recommend studying those.
Hope this helps a little! ~scribbler
