I'm not a TESC student so others may correct any misconceptions I may have but I believe that usually they count as electives unless you are specifically going for an emergency management or strongly related degree. There are a few NFA courses that work essentially the same way that can be used toward more fields of study. They are also ACE approved (two of them) and can be used towards a degree at more schools. I do not have the course numbers on hand, somebody will fill in the blanks or I will post it later.
