Do I have to Formally Enroll to Find Out What RA Credits Will Transfer?
#1
It would be nice to shop around to each of the Big Three and see who will take the most of my existing RA credits. Do I have to go through the time and expense of formally enrolling with each college to do this? Or, I can I realistically talk to admissions for each college prior to actual enrollment and get that worked out? I've read conflicting accounts.

We can make pretty good guesses on the forum, but if you want an official evaluation, you have to, at minimum, apply (including application fees and transcript fees).
Ongoing: MLIS

June 2022, Thomas Edison State University (TESU): Second degree - BA in Computer Science + ASNSM in Mathematics + Cert. in CIS + Cert. in Operations Mgmt.
e-Packs: Computer Concepts; Industrial Psych.
Guided Study: Comp. Architecture
Online: Intro. to PLA; Database Mgmt.; Software Eng.; Data Structures; Liberal Arts Capstone; DSI-610 (Statistics.com)

May 2019, a residential, RA institution: BA in Political Science and Educational Studies
Relevant equivalencies: MAT-321; MAT-431; STA-315

You can ask on here and we will tell you.

Other than that, you do not have to enroll with any of the schools. Instead, you would apply and send your transcripts and get an evaluation. At that point, you could decide whether or not to enroll and pursue a degree at one of the schools.

If you list your previous credits, we'll help. Do it this way:

School (2yr or 4yr? RA or NA? Semester or Quarter?)
Course #, full course name, # off credits earned, grade if less than a C, date taken

Repeat for each school. Make sure you tell us relevant info, like if a science course has a lab, if the school was a CC or a 4yr, if a course is UL but hard to tell because of course numbering, if a course is "developmental" and not college-level like a Math or English course, etc.

It depends on how many RA courses you have and how easy it would be to guess how those courses will transfer.

EC I believe wants you to graduate within a year after enrolling or you may be charged fees.

COSC has quarterly fees after you enroll

TESU doesn't have fees.

Correction: TESU doesn't have fees, but they kind of do. If you don't pay for a course or a TECEP within 12 months, you drop out of applicant status and have to reapply. If you are fully enrolled and don't pay for a TECEP or course for a full year, you have to reapply. Thankfully, the cheapest TECEP is only $50 (and you don't have to take it), so TESU technically has fees of $50+/year.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

You're correct, on the TECEP thing. They only give 2 free evaluations after you pay the app fee.

EC's fees went away, so it's free to enroll, you just need to transfer in credits every so often to show that you're still in the plan (to keep your catalog).  Maybe every six months (although I'm not 100% on that).  I do know that you can transfer in credits from ACE & NCCRS to keep things going.

COSC has semester fees.

TESU has no enrollment fees, but if you don't lock in your catalog by enrolling within a year, you lose your catalog.
