UMPI
(01-23-2021, 02:07 PM)Cofffeee Wrote: Thank u. Was it live Proctored MCQ?

I would suggest contacting UMPI about their proctoring. This isn't something I am comfortable discussing. There are some things we have to agree to for academic integrity and we agree to when taking exams.
Sure no problem
Hi guys. You may notice ss20ts and I are avoiding some questions. UMPI has a pretty strict honor code, and we do not represent UMPI. A lot of the questions we're getting is better for UMPI.

Please contact UMPI for your questions that we cannot answer. Your contacts are:

umpi-yourpace@maine.edu

Email that with your questions. You'd likely get Shea or Ashley answering you back. They're really awesome! They can even do Video Calls with you to discuss things. Since I'm deaf they were amazing with me when I was considering enrolling and went all out with even involving their ADA Coordinator to make sure I can be a good fit.

Those of us enrolled at UMPI usually talk to our professors, Jessica or Cody these days.

UMPI has a pretty strict Honor Code. If you want more information contact UMPI's Staff they're happy to share.

But I can give you some vague answers that you can find on their syllabus that are available to the public.

Multiple Choice Exams -- If your exam/final is multiple-choice, then you had multiple milestones where you had to write to your professor/have a discussion with them to show you understood the content. These discussions can range from you making a diagram, to you describing your own take on something. You must pass all of these milestones in order for your Multiple Choice Exam to count. If you don't pass them, then you don't pass your class. You will get your professor writing back asking you to clarify things.

Final Assessment Essay -- If your exam/final is an essay, the essay is open book for the most part. The instructions are extraordinarily detailed, a lot better than Sophia's or Study.com's for that matter. You can submit drafts so your professor can review them before you get your final.

I didnt ask any questions more specific than any of u talked about . Dont see difference between any of u telling number of pages per course vs if exam is proctored or not. I didnt ask what questions are or anything like that..........
I hope I can manage to get into UMPI! Does anyone know if any international students have been successfully admitted and if so, whether they were required to get anything certified from WES? All my transcripts apart from high-school would be from sophia but getting my high-school evaluated would cost close to 300$ and take months as well as potentially not being an option due to the pandemics impact on postal/verification institutes in my country. Does anyone have any info on this? It would be greatly appreciated.

Best thing to do is to email the YourPace admissions office. I know college transcripts must go through WES, but that's all I know for international students. Yes, they do accept international students. They have a HUGE program with Canada as the campus is on the Canadian border.

Since UMPI's actual application fee is $0, I would certainly contact them and see if you can at least get some sort of provisional/conditional application going. But I don't know of any US college/university that doesn't expect a HS diploma/transcript in order to be admitted to their degree programs, so you may be out of luck either way.

I've not heard of high school transcripts needing to be evaluated by WES, I don't think this is generally a thing. But I guess I could be wrong.

I've gone to 5 colleges, my husband 4, and none of them required an actual physical/electronic copy of our high school diplomas.  They asked about them, and we put in the dates we graduated and names of the HS's, but that was it.

UMPI told me it’s required due to law when applying for financial aid now. Might be a new thing or different or just how they do it in Maine. She said if I didn’t want to do it I can pay for it myself with no financial aid.
