Where did you get this info?  Like, do they have something showing how they'll bring in Saylor, Study.com, Sophia, etc.?  Or did you just make this up?

The reason we know what the Big 3 will accept is from years of people reporting on the forum what works.  I'm concerned that we don't have enough info yet to post something like this for a school we don't know a lot about.

All of these courses are not correct! You've made MANY incorrect assumptions. Just the 3 English courses required alone you have incorrect. Yes, there are 3 English courses required for the GEC.

Colleges don't have to be designed to transfer courses, one simply does. Students ultimately choose what college they want their degree from.
UMPI earns its money whether you take one semester or more.

I like some of their courses but I'd rather get a degree from one of the big 3.

UMPI is NOT designed for you to take their classes, ditch them, and then get your degree from somewhere else. UMPI is a university so why not just finish one of their degrees if you take their

Because you don't get to dictate which courses you take or which order. The advisors pick for you based on your degree audit.

No there is not a capstone. All you have you do is look at their website and see the list of requirements.

Hi Gabriel,

Thanks for reaching out to me. We have a plan to offer the new Computer Science course through YourPace and we are working on it. The credit transfer depends on your already completed courses elsewhere as well the equivalence of your completed courses with the available courses at UMPI. Yes, you can choose some of the CS courses as electives (upon approval of the appropriate authority) toward your degree. Usually, our students prefer in-person classes and exams where exams are proctored. Due to the COVID-19 we conducted a few exams online. It depends on the course instructor how he/she conducts the exam.

Please feel free let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Rafiul

This is Great NEWS I will stop with TESU plan, this is going to be the best option now.
It's UMPI not IMPI. Secondly. don't get excited or put anything on hold. Their MA took 2 years to develop and bring live. They are just beginning their on campus CS degree which was created with a federal grant.

I have repeatedly stated that none of the exams have been proctored. There are also only a handful of courses with exams. Almost every course has a major paper or project not an exam.

Quick note: I'm willing to bet BUS 489: BUSINESS POLICY & STRATEGY is the capstone course. It may not be the same as the capstone at TESU, but this is very similar in name to many business capstone courses (and TESU's used to be called this).

This course is NOT a capstone course. I have the YourPace description and the project. It's all about business strategy. The paper is not a capstone.

Just because it's not the same as TESU's version of a capstone doesn't make it the capstone.  At some schools, the capstone is required to be taken in the final semester, so obviously it's not going to be your "final" course, but they still refer to the capstone as "capping off your studies" or some such.

But obviously you know more, so I'll defer to you on it.

hi the excel degree plan has a lot of weird assumptions. Sophia Human Biology does not cover their science component. It comes in as 103 (which the above excel is correct) but it is an elective not a GEC.

I am a student at UMPI now as well. ss20ts is right in everything he has said. The only difference between my degree plan and his, is I have my language option adjusted due to being deaf.

Also please, please, please keep in mind. The online school is online.umpi.edu if you find information on umpi.edu that doesn't have the online. subdomain, it is safe to assume it isn't a YourPace program and is in person instead. The online plans are listed here, and these are the only options: https://online.umpi.edu/programs/programs.aspx

Yeah I don't know where those assumptions were made from. I know from experience that many are false. I don't know why people are looking at the on campus degrees and saying those courses are offered when I keep saying they're not. I have the schedules for every courses offered for the history/Political Science, English/Communications, and all of the Business Administration degrees and all of the minors. I can see everything except the Criminal Justice degree courses and know what's offered when. I know what the Final Assessment is for the English/Communications and Business Administration degree programs are as well. Because I transferred in so many business courses, I had to work with our academic advisor to make sure I had enough UL courses in my original minor and in my general electives as required on the degree audit. When I added the second minor, that took care of a great deal of the UL requirements because most of Project Management is UL. Not the case with the Management Information Systems minor which is what I started with in August.

I created a spreadsheet for a UMPI history degree. Perhaps gams007 also used UMPI's stated General Education Curriculum (http://catalog.umpi.edu/preview_program....3&poid=239) as a reference, which says that Human Biology DOES satisfy Scientific Reasoning Learning Objective C.

Do online degrees not have the same Gen Ed requirements?

On MY sample spreadsheet, I put Sophia's Human Biology as meeting Science Objective C, and my RA 4-credit general biology as satisfying Science Objective E. The 4-credit general biology also satisfies Science Objective C, I have way more than the required 40 Gen Ed credits, so Human Biology isn't needed.

That said, I wouldn't bank on anything until I had all transcripts evaluated and a UMPI advisor put together an individualized degree plan.

Human Biology 103 is a science elective, not a GEC fulfillment. They require 105 to fulfill the requirement. Sophia's comes in as 103. Straighterline's comes in at 105. It has to have a lab.
