Just wondering - Which school are you referring to? Your best bets for old credits are the Big 3 (depending on the degree), the competency based degree providers also require newer credits in the area of study.

It is for Eastern Gateway CC, for the union degree. Was hoping that my GenEd credits would take care of a semester of courses and get through it quicker but they won't. Good to know that they may still be useful at COSC which is the plan after the Associate degree.

Did you already get your credits evaluated? Or is this based on information that a counselor gave you?
When I applied, I submitted credits that were more than 20 years old and they took several of them. That was in 2019.
so if you are going based on what someone told you and not an actual evaluation, I would go ahead and send my transcript anyway. If you did get your transcript evaluated, then I guess they have changed their policy, which is too bad.
I thought I read from someone else that Eastern Gateway will accept CLEP exams and Sophia, so that could be another way to get your general eds out of the way.

It usually depends on the subject. Any STEM-related credits, for example, won't be accepted if they're old. But English, say, will usually be accepted no matter how old. APUS allowed me to use an English class from 1982 (my only credit from my only ill-fated semester). Generally age doesn't matter unless the subject matter is one that has changed drastically over the years.

They should take old courses, especially English and Govt. No way would I retake English Comp if I didn't have to!

Check Pierpont Adult Degree and see what they say. I checked for a friend and they were very open to taking older credit. Look specifically for the Adult Degree. Good Luck

Many schools take VERY old credit. I've never heard of one that won't take things like Government and English Comp just because they're old. IT, business, sure. But not gen eds.
