Top Ranked & Fully Funded MS/PhD - KAUST
#1
Interested in travels? If I was still in my mid 20's, this would have been the perfect program choice... a MS/PhD combo all paid for!
Since it's not for me, someone should take advantage of this.  Note: They seem to only offer Science and Technology programs only.

I really liked their intro video and information on their webpage:  https://admissions.kaust.edu.sa/we-fund-...uture.html
If you want more details on the country, here's the wiki:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saudi_Arabia

And yes, the program admissions are very selective.  Make sure to have all your details up to date, there are requirements.

Wow! This is really interesting, I will definitely be considering this for their biological sciences degrees. I wonder how competitive these are?

I wouldn't advise any woman to study in Saudi Arabia. There are hundreds of funded PhD programs here in the U.S. You can also find funded PhD programs in Canada, parts of Europe, Australia, and other countries where women have equal rights.

I second the motion.

I actually got to visit the school for a week this semester. It is very nice, and I was surprised and impressed both with the number of foreign students and staff and with the freedoms and amenities enjoyed in the campus community. I would say it felt pretty similar to college campuses in the US, but more walkable and "adult" (it is strictly a graduate school, after all). None of the women I saw from the school wore the full face covering we usually think of with Saudi Arabia, and even many of the Saudi women looked like Americans as I would see them in my home academic setting in the US. The culture in the rest of the country still concerns me, but the town they've built around this university seems quite free and lively.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that only about 25% of people who live on campus are Saudi (including about 40% of students, if I recall). They have a whole lot of foreign staff, especially from the Philippines and India.
