TESU BSBA Final Stretch Check-In for Support

If he presents an evaluation stating that the an ENEB degree is equivalent to a US bachelor’s degree, that will trigger the “Earning a Second or Successive Baccalaureate Degree” policy in the Award of Degrees Policy (per the section “Foreign Credentials”).

If his TESU BSBA is considered a second or successive bachelor’s degree, I believe the information literacy cornerstone requirement will be waived. However, he will need to complete 24 credits in the area of study earned subsequent to the date of his most recent bachelor’s-equivalent degree.

Thanks for the feedback.

The route he is planning to take, once he receives the documentation form for his MBA/Masters combo at ENEB/Universidad Isabel I, is to have it evaluated by ECE for the minimum 30 UL credits for Business Courses and transfer that to TESU.

Either you are talking about a different path, or something successful in the past is no longer a viable option in 2025. Though I don't think that is the case, as I have not read otherwise in the forum.

This week should bring the conclusion of my brother's ECE evaluation. I expect to have the documentation by next week and will share the results with the forum then.

In the meantime, I did a deep dive into the 24-credit requirement for a second degree at TESU, but I'm still unclear on a few points:

1. Aside from TECEP exams, can students transfer credits from other sources (e.g., Study.com, StraighterLine, CLEP, Coursera, etc.) to meet the requirement?
2. If new transfer credits from different sources duplicate courses already on file (previous transfers), would they still count toward the 24 credits, or must the credits be entirely new business topics and not overlap with students' existing transfer credits?

Thomas Edison State University is one of StraighterLine’s 180+ partner schools, meaning TESU guarantees credit transfer for certain courses outlined in the course equivalency guide here: https://www.straighterline.com/colleges/...niversity/

If your brother needs help navigating which courses to take, he can set up a chat with one of our enrollment specialists here: https://info.straighterline.com/es-info-request

Best of luck to your brother!

Appreciate the 'Sales Support'. My question is in reference to what TESU accepts versus needing support from outside sources. However, our family has a long-standing appreciation with Straighterline, so thanks for chiming in..

My brother received his results for the TECEP BUS-311-TE BUSINESS IN SOCIETY.

Score: 92%

At 18, he doesn't have traditional business experience; however, he has been heavily exposed in our household and is a curious learner, which tends to serve him well in exams.

He asked to share these reference books used for resources in the prep process:

Lawrence, Anne T. & James Weber – Business and Society: Stakeholders, Ethics, Public Policy
Carroll, Archie B. & Ann K. Buchholtz – Business & Society: Ethics, Sustainability, and Stakeholder Management
Weiss, Joseph W. – Business Ethics: A Stakeholder and Issues Management Approach

The final step with ECE/ENEB/TESU is taking longer than expected for my brother. He initially purchased the wrong evaluation (“General” instead of “Course-by-Course”), which caused delays and some unnecessary fees; unfortunately, but it happens.

Once TESU received the correct ECE Course-by-Course evaluation, they initially stated that no credit would be awarded. After several phone calls, it appears the issue is simply that TESU needs additional detail from ECE to apply the credits properly. ECE has been given this request and confirmed they will provide an update by mid-week.

Remaining TESU Degree Requirements:

 Residency Waiver – 15 credits
 SOS-1100 Information Literacy Today – 3 credits
 BUS-4210 Business Administration Capstone – 3 credits

TESU’s Email Regarding the ECE Documentation

Hi XXX,

Typically the ECE course-by-course evaluations we receive display the following (image attached):

The way your transcript is presented, we have no way of knowing which courses accounted for a specific amount of credit. While it indicates 36 total credits completed, 15 different subjects are listed, indicating it is not an even split among subjects. Without ECE breaking down the credit amounts, TESU would need to award larger blocks of elective credit, which would not be able to fulfill specific TESU degree requirements. That would be the worst-case scenario and one we would hope to avoid.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else or have any follow-up questions after discussing with ECE.

Thanks,
XXX

This has been forwarded to ECE, and they acknowledged the request and will respond by mid-week. My brother is optimistic, though I’ll admit that whenever extra steps appear, especially since previous students had virtually no hurdles, it adds a bit of concern.

I’ll keep everyone updated as this progresses.
