Hello I am a new follower of the thread and I could use some help with my degree. I have an associates degree from my local community college in english that I got through dual enrollment and from clep/dsst. I plan on having about 100 credits by the time I leave High School May as well.
Clep:
- Social Sciences And History (60)
- College Mathematics (56)
- Biology (52)
- English Literature (53)
- American Government (61)
- Introductory Sociology (55)
- American Literature (51)
- Western Civilization I (52)
- Western Civilization II (50)
- Information Systems (58)
- Principles Of Marketing (51)
- Principles Of Macroeconomics (51)
- Principles Of Management (53)
- Spanish Language Level 1 and 2 (51)
- History of United States II (72)
- History Of United States I (69)
- Analyze & Interpret Literature (62)
Dsst:
Technical Writing (444)
Sophia:
2 free credits classes
Insurance Ethics course taken as well
Courses still left to take:
Calculus I CLEP
DSST Management Information systems (can be used in aos of computer science as well as the information systems clep that I have already taken)
Onlinedegree.com intro to computer science
Robotics onlinedegree.com (I am not sure if this will work with the aos for tesu)
I plan on going to TESU online after graduating high school/CC and submitting an age waiver. Can I finish the other classes through study.com and than take the cornerstone and capstone only at tesu this upcoming fall. Base on my math without the gen eds or electives computer science needs 12 classes plus the two tesu require classes. My plan is transfer calculus I, info clep, dsst info systems, and onlinedegree.com cs 101 in. Than take the remaining 8 classes through study.com over the spring/summer and than finally take the last 2 required capstone and cornerstone course in the fall to graduate in six months. Is that too ambitious? Is it possible. Cost is not an issue. I work full time outside of school and with the plel grant and tuition reimbursement can pay for everything easily. I just want my bachelor as fast as possible once I leave my community college and high school this may. Can I take study.com classes while enrolla ttesu or does it have to be finish before I enroll in August? Is there any other free or cheap computer science electives besides the typical one like onlinedegree or saylor. I know teex and cybersecurity are out but any other would be appreiciate. I have decided on TESU please do not suggest other schools like wgu as I have already look into them and with my rather large volume of credits have realize that if my plan works I could not do it faster through wgu. Thanks in advance guys!!!

So you are saying with all you community college and clep you will have all your gen eds and free electives done?
You can start study.com anytime. You could start that right now even.
Straighterline has a java course. Also there is the cybersecurity dsst. And saylor is an option you could at least try if you fail you are ok only out $25. Since you are in high school there is the ap computer science test you could try to take.
I don't know if you can start in the fall it is possible but it depends on how fast you move but it takes a month for tesu to evaluate everything and you have to have most of the aos done before you do the Capstone. So it might be December 2020 before you graduate.
To graduate in December that means you have to have to enroll in the August Capstone which would be tight but doable. If you do any Capstone after August you are looking at March graduation.
Also what CC courses did you take any chance any of them are computer Science related?

I have not taken any courses in cs from my community college but I haven taken 4 years of coding classes in high school where I learn html, css, javascript, php, SQL, and c# If that helps any. Straighterline seems more expensive than study.com but I look into saylor once my webcam comes in. I plan on starting study.com in april. I would like to graduate in December if possible when should I applied. With all my credits i should have completed both gen ed and free electives. I thought cyber security dsst woukdnt work for cs?

So Max, you're 17 or 18 this year? You like the number 68 eh, why not 69? haha, in my favorite language, it just means road to prosperity... Anyways, you are correct, it would be about the end of the year before you can graduate and you will need to take the Capstone/Cornerstone together with financial aid to just cover those two courses along with the grad/residency waiver.
I also highly suggest you to take TESU vs WGU when you have that many transferable credits, further to that, it shows you progressed from a B&M State University to something higher if you decide to go to another school for a Masters. If you want to go for the BACS complete all your CLEPS then get the remainder done with Study.com for the UL requirements.
Instead of going for NCCRS options such as Onlinedegree.com, you may want to stick with ACE options for all the requirements, you can use the Onlinedegree.com courses as "free elective/overflow credits" and just for "fun" credits to learn Python/Robotics and whichever course you can think of with NCCRS - the main reason is, ability to transfer into another college/university.
So, in place of Intro to Programming at Onlinedegree.com, you can take the Intro to Programming at Study.com - since you're taking courses at Study.com towards Computer Science, some of the information will overlap with other courses - especially if you are going to take extra programming courses at Study.com - If you can, complete some dual enrollment courses at the CC for Comp Sci/Math (this is where you "learn the most").
TLDR: I agree with your assessment, do all you can with CLEPS first, then Study.com to finish the UL requirements, finally complete the last two at TESU. Always choose dual enrollment Comm College courses first, CLEPS, then ACE over NCCRS credits.

It's why I chosen only 1 or 2 max with onlinedegree.com but its neither reason why wgu is not interesting to me. Also with my credits I have to take more than 8 classes if i did wgu. For me a masters is not worth it and i have zero interests of pursing I'm dine after a masters so graduate school is not important. Also while I did say cost is not an issue I would like to try to minimize as I'm paying at the moment out of pocket until graduation to get pell in the future. I am 18 at the moment so I'm good there. Also while it's not a big issue I rather take the cheaper options like onlinedegree.com free versus another course through study.com due to the 100 per course or the 500 through my cc. Study.com/cc is only for Ul or classes I cant get through elsewhere if you catch my drift.

Wgu might be faster. If you start at WGU in June and finish in 6 months you would graduate in December and if you do it faster than 6 months it would be even faster.
Also I dont understand your rush you are only 18 anyways. And how are you so sure you get the pell grant it is for low income people. But if you do have tuition reimbursement and/or pell grant then wgu makes more sense financially. Because usually tesus 2500 residency wavier isnt covered by aid.
Also you are so young maybe find a b&m school that accepts clep and graduate in a year or two. The school I'm going to accepts unlimited clep and only requires 30 credits in residence.

I am a low income with 2 siblings who get full pell grant so yes I know I would get pell. Also as you said year or 2 I do not mind a year instead of 6 months but why would i go to wgu or another school if it takes 2 full years. Also I know wgu is faster for most )but not me. A Cs from wgu while cheaper st first with pell it's not faster. My goal is a degree Its not a rush for me it's my goal. Wgu is about 11 classes for gen ed even with my degree. Plus maybe 8 over summer that's still anot half the degree left versus 12 with tesu I can pay the 2500 if I finish my degree faster again please no messages about it wont be faster

Wgu would clear all your gen eds with an associates degree but even with that it would probably be more classes to do than tesu. Wgu would be quicker and cheaper if you were able to power through all the classes left in one term, but you would have to work harder to get there. Given that I can see how Tesu would work better for your situation.
My advice would just be to start chipping at study.com now. You can only do 5 courses max a month at study.com anyways so start now. Also saylor is based on an exam only and because you took cleps you might be good at it. Many people (including me) personally found Saylor exams difficult but everyone is different so once you get your webcam at least try it out. And like I said tesu takes a while to evaluate everything so I would get going the classes you need so you can get the August Capstone and December graduation if that's the goal.
I guess my thought is since you are young try to get internships and experience in computers along side your degree. Because the people i personally know who got there degrees young, arent even working good jobs because they dont have the experience or skills to complement their degree. But it sounds like you know a lot about computers so you wont be in the same boat.
Sounds like you have an impressive work ethic. Keep working hard you got this.
Also another UL option is the network security TECEP. Actually tesu changes their catalogs in July so maybe try to take this in June after your hs diploma so then you stay on the current catalog. They have made a lot of changes lately and who knows what the new catalog will be like..

I understand the young aspect and looking into internships right now as I understand a degree isnt all it takes for a job. I been recommended saylor but the only fear is transfer availability due to so many of them expiring this year. I also want to take the tecep but tesu makes changes this july correct? So I'm not sure it would be good if they take it away. I dont know if I could manage more than 2 courses a month never used study.com before but I will try my goal is 2 a month for april may june and july to finish all my aos and require classes before august capstone. Is that reasonable for study.com? I get my webcam tomorrow and might start study.com starting than if the camera is good.

I'm not saying go to WGU, but I am suggesting once you finish your associates you should apply. WGU waives a great deal with an associates ( https://www.wgu.edu/admissions/transfers...llege.html), and you can transfer in right up until you enroll up to the last 30 credits.
If you're eligible for a Pell Grant you can likely get your degree paid for with no out of pocket. You mentioned something about paying out of pocket until graduation - I assume you mean this to cover the final costs at TESU for the Cornerstone/Capstone. If you are eligible for the max Pell Grant (currently $6,345); you would likely only be able to receive up to $1,586.25 for towards two courses (taken within the same term) as you would be half time vs full time; the Pell Grant is for the year - then split by status; so you end up short for tuition and you still need to pay the residency waiver out of your pocket.
If not WGU maybe another competency based school might work for you - WGU is the best known here, but not the only option (and I'm just thinking in terms of maximizing a Pell Grant)
Amberton - MSHRB
TESU - ASNSM/BSBA
