I'm transferring 89 credits from a 4 year university to TESU. They have accepted those courses and this is what I have remaining to finish my degree:
Capstone
1101 Fact, Fiction Course
Basic Math Course
Public Speaking
Ethics
Humanities Upper Level Courses 9 Credits remaining
General Ed Electives 7 Credits remaining
I'm speaking with my advisor tomorrow and want to plan out how to complete these remaining credits by April 15th to apply for the June graduation. I need to graduate in June for a position which begins in August.
Here's what I am considering:
Take Capstone & 1101 through TESU beginning February 3rd.
Sophia for the remaining courses because they will be easier to complete there than through TECEP or TESU.
Here are the Sophia courses I have chosen to fulfill the requirements:
Intro to College Math 3
Public Speaking 3
Intro to Ethics 3
For Humanities Credits:
Ancient Greek Philosophers 3
Studying Religions 3
Critical Thinking 3
For Gen Ed:
Visual Communications 3
Essentials of Managing Conflict 1
Workplace Communication 3
Do these courses transfer to TESU? Per the Sophia website, they seem to transfer. Will my advisor be able to confirm these courses will work for my degree plan? Any other suggestions?
I realize I will have to pay the waiver, I am fine with that. The timeline is of the utmost importance.
Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.
Thanks! Shannon

Welcome to the board, great initial post with the info we're looking for... Having said that... You can't start the capstone until you've transferred everything in, you need to do this the opposite way around - Sophia.org first, then TESU last.

Can I do Capstone and 1101 at the same time once everything else is completed?

Yes, I would do them together as you'll have enough time to complete them in 12 weeks. If you ever need the extra time to work on the Capstone, you can extend that for 8 weeks at $298. You'll need to have at least 50% of the class complete and get professor to approve...

Your plan seems to be missing some important details:
- You need 100 credits transferred into your degree before you can take the Capstone.
- All courses must be completed and transferred into your degree by May 1st, not April 15th for June graduation.
- All English writing courses must be finished before taking the Capstone. (English Comp I & II)
Additionally, your current course plan isn't the quickest option.
Study.com Communications 120: Presentation Skills in the Workplace is a lot faster than Sophia Public Speaking.
For Sophia courses, try to take courses that have no touchstones which usually is quicker

Double degree plan (These General Ed courses are mostly the fastest option)

This is good information. I didn't know there was a requirement of 100 hours before you could take the Capstone course. These are things I am trying to find out so I can finish as quickly as possible.
I have already finished English Comp I & II.
I can do Study.com for Public Speaking. I did try to find the Sophia courses that worked with little to no Touchstones but a lot of the courses I have either already completed the equivalent or they don't apply to my degree plan. So that is my reasoning for the courses I chose.
Would you change anything else?
So, after learning about the 100 hour requirement before taking Capstone, it seems it wouldn't be possible to finish my degree for a June graduation date. Is that correct or am I missing a possible way to complete everything for a June graduation?
Thanks!

If you drop everything now and start cooking, you’ll most likely be able to make it.
I’d begin with Sophia’s Visual Communications. Skim through the text or watch the videos at 2x speed. Then, move on to Ancient Greek Philosophers and Ethics, which should get you most of the way to 100 credits by the Jan 31st course registration deadline.
If you get close to 100 credits, you could request an exception. I did that myself, and it worked. If Sophia’s courses haven’t been transferred into your degree yet, I’d recommend sending them a link to your Credly profile showing those courses as completed when requesting an exception.

And since this is a liberal arts degree, you may want to do the UMPI BLS with a minor of your choice, plus the 3-4 classes that can go towards the MAOL as an alternative to the TESU BALS...
