Each course took me about 15-20 hours on average to complete (some were way longer, some shorter) Waiting for instructor grades/feedback is really the biggest thing that slows you down.

6 in one term? I was sent an email a few weeks ago that said students are limited to 5 courses in one term. I would be ecstatic to learn that's not a hard rule. I was planning on five this term and five next term but fell off track due to supporting my fiancé through bar prep while simultaneously dealing with a family crisis. Also registered for Research Methods, which I learned (after the semester began) is NOT a course recommended for acceleration.

That might be something new they implemented. TAMUC seems to be changing things up as they go.
Talked to my advisor. There isn't a 5 class limit per term. I'm on my 5th class and will finish next week. Advisor said they could squeeze in my 6 class before the cutoff.

I'm thinking that there was a miscommunication on weeks vs classes before the cutoff. After week 5 of the semester, you may not add an additional class. There are some classes in where it is not advised you take the class after your third week I believe.

To be on the safe side, don't look at what others can do, pace yourself and see if you can knock out 4 courses a term, if it's doable for you, add one before the term ends... each session gives you a set time, so you don't want to rush yourself, if you can't finish that course I'm not sure if it will 'fail' or you get to continue the course on the next session. Good luck, have fun!

Howdy! I am on my first term in the ORGL program, my advisor told me if I could handle to Texas Government class the rest would be a breeze. I am glad I took it as my 3rd class, I would not recommend taking it later as it is much more difficult. I am accelerating into my 7th class this week(cut off for acceleration is 16th) but I have had lots of free time to focus on this program and have been keeping my laptop with me even when I am going on weekend trips so I can work while the kids play. Side note, I always send the professors a lovely thank you letter(email) and call to leave them a thank you VM to notify them "I believe I have completed all required course material and that I am an accelerating student trying to take advantage of a little free time I had this week"

Wow, we have a lot of people doing the TAMUC Org Leadership degree now.

I think it's time to update the degree plan. The major changes I see is ONU, Instantcert is no longer an option, and Sophia's U.S. Govt should work for Government/Political Science.

Anything else to update?

Let us know if you transferred in anything that worked to fulfill different areas that aren't listed in the degree plan.

I've updated the degree plan to reflect the UL requirements that need to be taken at TAMUC as well as a self-paced, online Texas Government class that can be taken at West Texas A&M University that will satisfy the Texas Government requirement.

I appreciate all the information provided here.

Are the 6 hours of UL credits also self-paced or similar to a regular semester course?

Does anyone know what happens if you do not complete the course within the allotted time?  Does it 'roll over' or do you fail?

Thanks.

Hello,

I took the 6 hours of upper level electives this fall. CID 338 Talent leadership in human resources and CID 342 Leading Innovation. These courses are like all of the courses I have taken at TAMUC. They are all self paced, you start the semester with 2 classes, once you complete those 2, then you can accelerate into a new class. then repeat.

The cut off for acceleration leaves 2 weeks to finish your last class. I have not run into any issues with finishing a class before the semester ends.
From my understanding, if you did not finish, you would fail that class and have to repeat it the next semester.

Fall 1 I finished 3 classes (Texas history was not easy for me)
Fall 2 I finished 5 classes ( I could not finish the 5th one before the acceleration deadline, and Thanksgiving break did not help either due to no grading taking place for 4-5 days)

Completed:
TAMUC BAAS Org Leadership
SJC AAS Automotive Technology

Thanks for the explanation.  It seems crazy that you could fail a class when part of the reason you didn't get to complete the course was because of grading?  Or did I misunderstand?
