here you go:

http://www.ncsl.org/research/fiscal-poli...taxes.aspx Wrote:Real estate transfer taxes are taxes imposed by states, counties and municipalities on the transfer of the title of real property within the jurisdiction. Real estate transfer taxes can also be used for specific purposes, such as affordable housing and open space development.

The tax was increased on properties that are transferred valued at $5million or more. In California that tax is currently 0.11%. I have no idea what the new rate is in San Francisco for this change.

Note that this is for Community College and to access the "free" funds one would have to live in San Fransisco for a year and a day.....if you can afford that I bet you can afford the tuition in the first place. https://www.ccsf.edu/en/student-services...-fees.html

Community college tuition/book costs add up. Many people make too much to qualify for help but not enough to pay cash for cc.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

jsd Wrote:I get your point, but I'm not sure where you're getting those particular sources of funding. The article laid out pretty well where the funding is coming from: An increase in real estate transfer tax for properties over $5million.

Hence my use of the term "etc." in my original comment. Which disputes the article's premise (I know you didn't write it) of "free college". My point is that its not free, it comes from somewhere. Just as a police force is not free, clean streets, etc, etc, etc.

Our state uses lottery funds for "free" college. I think of it as poor people paying for the education of kids of the middle class.

"Lotteries - a tax on imbeciles." Italian statesman, Camillo Benso, Conte di Cavour (1810-1861).

True. I won $10 this week. They'll get it back...
