I might be overthinking this, but will retaking a failed course through study.com replace my old grade? Just want to be sure it's not counted as a new course that fulfills my degree requirement, but the old course is still hanging around dragging down my GPA unless I retake it through TESU itself. I failed the course at TESU if that wasn't clear.

Which course did you fail at TESU?
It's pretty hard to fail a course unless you don't turn in assignments.
However, some of their tests can be hard if you don't study properly.
Degrees: BA Computer Science, BS Business Administration with a concentration in CIS, AS Natural Science & Math, TESU. 4.0 GPA 2022.
Course Experience: CLEP, Instantcert, Sophia.org, Study.com, Straighterline.com, Onlinedegree.org, Saylor.org, Csmlearn.com, and TEL Learning.
Certifications: W3Schools PHP, Google IT Support, Google Digital Marketing, Google Project Management

I know now it's too late but a safety net if life stuff happens is to use the course extension:

Here's a recent thread that talked about failed courses at TESU
https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-GPA-TESU
Some key points
- You need a 2.0 GPA to graduate at TESU
- You can take TESU courses to bump up your GPA (for example capstone/cornerstone if you avg. B, then your GPA would be 2.0 on average for 3 courses)
Study.com Presentation skills in the workforce TESU will accept for the oral communication requirement. (no speeches, pretty easy to do)
So how many credits you have left on your degree and how many TESU courses were you planning to take? Did you pass some TESU courses already or was public speaking your first course?

@gushi, Welcome to the board! Can you provide us a bit more details so we can probably help you with an action plan? Follow the template here and the addendum which is the last post of the thread, provide as much info as possible, how many courses have you taken at TESU so far?
Basically, if you want to take courses to bump up the GPA, you can retake that course in addition to some other courses to get enough residency credits to waive the residency waiver fee. I think it's a better idea to redo the course and add enough courses to finish a flat rate tuition term at TESU.
If that is the only failed course, you may also want to do the flat rate term to bump up the GPA and get the needed credits for residency purposes, you should do this if you have enough energy/time to work on 16 credits at once. You can always extend the courses if you need to.

Huh, I didn't even realize the implications of the residency waiver fee. Good to know. Basically, I transferred in with about 90 credits already completed at a public university and a community college and was just looking to finish up. Liberal Studies seems to be my best bet as far as securing as many transfer credits as possible. I took 5 courses last semester and passed 3. One of the failed ones was the cornerstone course, so obviously I've gotta take that one again, and the other was the public speaking course. Based on what I'm reading in your link, it seems like it would be a good idea to retake the public speaking course through TESU in order to hit 15 RA credits. That way once I take my capstone I'll have met the requirements for the waiver.
I have 5 courses left to take besides those two and I was planning to do those through study.com just because it seems like less of a hassle.

Seems you haven't provided us much more details as the template wasn't used. Anyways... Let's help you out a bit more, please create a screenshot or PDF with your academic evaluation, include everything (program, credits, extra notes at the bottom, etc) except for your personal details at the top. You can PM me the link to that file if you don't want to share here.
This will provide me details on a few things: 1) If you have an associates or not
2) Which courses have been completed at TESU for residency purposes for the BALS
3) What courses I can recommend you with alternative ACE providers to complete the degree
Your options for the remaining courses (most likely for your concentration or Area of Study, probably upper level too) should come from Coopersmith, Davar, LawShelf.com, Study.com, etc. There are several ACE/NCCRS credit providers that are affordable and are upper level. I'll know when I get a view of your evaluation...

Transferring in a course from a different source will NOT overwrite your old failure. You'll have two entries on your transcript: COM-209 - F and COM-209 equivalent - pass. The only way to get rid of the failing grade is to retake the course from TESU.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA
Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210
