Hello,
I am planning on taking the Excelsior Credit by exam, but if there is an easier statistics exam that I could take but don't know about please let me know. I need it for a prerequisite for a school I am already in and do need it to provide college credit.
Best,
A

Aleks.com is by far the cheapest and quickest. $20 and getting the assessment above 70% gets you done.

This depends on whether the school OP is in accepts ACE credits or just RA + CLEP. UExcel is technically RA because EC is RA, so it is likely that many more schools will accept those than will accept ACE.

Davar has a stats. class. Davar, of course, is NCCRS, not ACE. I am still waiting on TESU to post my credits from the June $99 deal, so I can't say for sure what it transfers as. The major advantage is that there are essays on the exam. That makes Davar a good choice for anyone with an English/writing background. I scored a 77% on the Davar stats. exam and it took me a good two weeks to reach 70% on the ALEKS intro. to stats.

Essays for a stats exam?! I can't imagine what those would be about, haha.

ALEKS is pretty hard for most people. It's worth paying more for DSST or Davar. Most schools won't take Davar. A lot won't take ACE (ALEKS) either. Some which take CLEP won't take the DSST. So you may be stuck with CLEP.

I started, but dropped, ALEKS stats. In the end, I used Khan Academy to self-study for the DSST exam. It was enough to pass!

Agree with the cost value of ALEKS and it being the best option if you already have a good understanding of Stats. For someone that is new to Stats, I would not advise them to tackle ALEKs because it could become pretty frustrating trying to hit a passing score. My daughter (17) did Stats through StraighterLine and even though there is a decent amount of exams, she did not feel it was too difficult and was able to really grow in her understanding of Stats.
