Premature enrollment...maybe?
#1
I know the debate over collecting a ton of credits and than enrolling vs enrolling early is a heated one. But correct me if I'm wrong here:

Currently I have 23 credits accumulated. I wish to get my BSBA from TESU. I could apply right. Ow if I wanted to right...sign up for a TECEP (and I have 12 weeks to actually take it). Once I sign up for the TECEP I'm officially enrolled at TESU.

Pass or fail, I'm enrolled for the next 12 months From the time I sign up for the TECEP. So I can take this time to accumulate more credits. If I need more than a year, I just sign up for another TECEP and the 12 months starts over again.

Signing up and enrolling now guarantees that I'll be locked into the 2016 catalog of requirements. Any changes that happen won't change what I'm locked in to.

Is this all correct?

If this is correct, I'm thinking I'll finish up the classes I'm currently working on and then I'll apply. This will put me at 39 credits.

I would ask this question of someone from TESU. You are playing Russian roulette and risking major catalog changes. Many of us have specific situations or wildly speculate on this forum. Get an answer in writing from someone at the school before this becomes an expensive mistake. Just my two cents.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Not sure what you mean by playing Russian roulette. How am I risking anything by signing up now? Wouldn't that actually be a safer bet than waiting? Wouldn't waiting, and hoping that no changes take place be playing Russian roulette?

Yes, you have it right. Registering for a TECEP starts your enrollment. You are considered enrolled once the term starts. You then have 12 months to either graduate or start another course or TECEP.

I would say that locking in your current catalog is the best bet for you since you already have a plan in place. Nothing lost if you do it now. I would also say that I wouldn't count on just signing up for a TECEP to keep your enrollment going. While that seems to be the case, the catalog does say that you have to PASS a TECEP to stay enrolled. While it does show you as enrolled as soon as you sign up for a TECEP, I'm personally not going to go with that as the case - I would take and pass a TECEP. Pick an easy one.

Thanks. I have no intention of failing it. Just pointing out that its possible.

With that said, I just applied. I was told they would have my decision in 3-5 business days. What reason would there be for them to NOT accept me?

They'll accept you. I signed up for the Cornerstone since the only TECEP I plan to take is the Strategic Management but I am nowhere near ready for that. Just FYI, my catalog is 2017, not 2016 so that is what you will be locked in to.

I am really confused by some of these new TESU rules.

To apply you send $75 and your transcripts. Is that still correct?

Once you enroll you have to pick your tuition plan and pay. Is that correct?

Once you apply you are only locked into a catalog year if you enroll within one year of initial application, Correct?

In the past you could enroll at anytime of year and you were enrolled for a whole 365 days. Has that changed?

Once you are enrolled if you enroll again before enrollment runs out you are still under the catalog you started on?

Maybe this isn't the right place to ask, but I am hoping the OP's question will help myself and any others having trouble with the new rules understand.

Yea, I am terrified that they will drop the Strategic Management TECEP as the Capstone option and force people to pay $1500 like the BA. I wanted to lock in to this catalog and not take any chances with any more changes. I missed finding this forum and avoiding the $2,000 residency waiver by a couple of months so I don't want to have to pay more than what my current plan has.
