Potential Degree Input, Please

Degree Wanted: 4-year Entrepreneurship degree
Current Credits: 0
Certs/Military: None
Budget: Any
Commitments: I can schedule my work around classes/studying
Time To Study: Anytime
Timeline: Open, but prefer within 4 years
Tuition Assistance: 0
Paying cash for all classes.

Many of the Business Adminstration degrees I've looked at have few classes specifically regarding entrepreneurship, and many times offer only three classes out of 120 credits in that specialization. I am also considering enrolling at a B/M school with a robust online program for this degree/specialization. Tuition is $8400 a year, 100% online. I would like to compare a potential degree plan including testing out to the traditional online program at the previously mentioned school.

What school are you currently looking at?

You're quite young, so a basic Business degree might serve you well in the future... you'll be able to pivot with a masters degree or certificates and such if need be.

What exactly do you want to do? It might be helpful to get a degree in another field, depending on your entrepreneurial goals.

@curious, Welcome to the board, you're the same age as my niece, she's heading to university in September, with about a couple of years credit already due to dual enrollment, AP/IB during high school... Anyways, I would recommend you a balanced mix/match trifecta of certs, degree, experience, since you're at such a young age.

My suggestion is to take as many classes you can that interest you so you would know which direction you want to go, for example, take some CLEP/MS or Sophia.org classes to decide if those interest you or not and then work towards a degree plan in Business or Entrepreneurship. Or take the cheapies/freebies to get some certs/experience...

Just to let you know, some institutions who have Entrepreneurship actually have minors in them, not majors, as the major itself is Business or Business Administration. I think you're better off doing a generic business degree, then at the Masters level, do an MBA or Masters with a major or concentration in Entrepreneurship instead. Decide...

Hi! Thank you for replying! I am looking at CMU's online program. I intend to open a dance studio and am currently building my coaching business while I attend college. CMU also allows transfer students with only 24 credits so I could also CLEP those as Gen Eds, then transfer them in. I'm trying to figure out all my options.

Finding a good college program in entrepreneurship is going to be like chasing a unicorn that doesn't exist.

All schools suck at entrepreneurship! I don't care if it's Berkeley, MIT, or Wharton Business School.

Don't believe me? Go take a free course yourself at edX. They are meh at best.

Western Michigan University lists an online Certificate in Dance Studio Management.

Do you hold or are you pursuing a coaching certification? If you seek a degree at a school that has a portfolio assessment or prior learning assessment process that isn't expensive or time-consuming (e.g., possibly UMPI), that might be worth some credit. Alternatively, if you're shopping for coaching courses in the future you might look for something offered by a college or university and with academic credit attached. Might meet two goals at once.

It's designed as a combination entrepreneurship degree and business incubator where each student is a founder launching a business while a student.

Although they post that that "many personal-service businesses, including restaurants and retail shops" are poor fits for the program, check out the very first Founder Testimonial on their main page:
