Pierpont BOG AAS
#1
Hi everyone,

Here are my details, and I'm going for the Pierpont BOG AAS.  Still deciding on a area of emphasis.  Looks like I need a couple more Sophia classes to add Business.  If all of my military training transfers then I can see if they will do an AOE for Electric Utility Technology.

Your Location: TX, USA
Your Age: 50
What kind of degree do you want?: BOG AAS
Current Regional Accredited Credits: 36
Columbia Southern University/ Houston Community College/ Lone Star College
Intro to Business 3 CSU
Learning Strategies for Success 3 CSU
English Comp I 3 CSU
Principles of Financial Accounting 3 HCC
Supervision 3 HCC
Intro to Psychology 3 HCC
Foundations of Math 4 HCC
Fund Math 1 3 HCC
Information Technology 4 HCC
Intro to Computers 4 Lone Star
Biomedical Electronics Internship 3 Lone Star

Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: 12
Sophia Total Credits: 12
Art History 1   3
Web Development   3
College Algebra   3
Environmental Science   3

Any certifications or military experience? Army Medical Equipment Repairer 36 credits
Basic Combat Training
 -First Aid 1
 -Marksmanship 1
 -Outdoor Skills Practicum 1
 -Personal Physical Conditioning 1

DC Circuits 3
Solid State Electronics 3
AC Circuits 3
Electronic Instrumentation 3
Mechanical and Electromechanical Controls 3
Pneumatic and Hydraulic Controls 3
Applications of Sensors 3
Digital Principles 3
Analog and Linear Circuit Principles 3
Electronic Equipment Diagnosis and Repair 3
Personal Supervision 2

I got a recent promotion and it requires a bachelors degree, any bachelors degree.  I have been in my current field for almost 27 years and have worked my way up pretty high with only my military training but now I need to buckle down.  I have been in touch with Nancy Parks and they are still working on transcript reviews.  I would like to transfer the AAS to UMPI and try to get a degree quite honestly the quickest degree possible as the degree does not matter and I am not interested in changing fields.

I might like to get an AOE in something as I've read this is preferable for the BOG degree but not sure which one I should pursue.

Does anyone have insights into degree planning based on what I've provided? What degree at UPMI should I pursue to knock out the quickest since it does not matter what the degree is in?

Hello fellow Texan!

Another program you can look at for Texas residents is the TAMUC BAAS ORGL.

link for TAMUC

There are a few of us here who are in the program or have finished the program. I just wrapped up my second 7 week semester ($750 per 7 week semester) and have 6 classes to go.

Here is the Wiki for the program click here for wiki

My wife just started this semester for BGS. Both of us plan to finish in May of 24'

If you have any questions about this program, feel free to ask.

Completed:
TAMUC BAAS Org Leadership
SJC AAS Automotive Technology

@rahenderson1, Welcome to the board, I agree with TAMUC as your first choice and UMPI as your second, but for now, continue with Sophia.org and then move to Study.com if needed, just make sure to complete the max 84-90 credits for transfer into the degree if any of the requirements are missing. I suggest to complete the addendum as you missed it earlier, you only have the template, while we're at it, you should create a spreadsheet with the courses you have taken and the requirements, the degree plans are on the WIKI for TAMUC & UMPI.
