PSYCH GRE Credits for EC?
#1
It'll be 3 weeks since I enrolled at EC. I saw a couple of threads that indicated they received their's within 2-3 weeks. I called EC and told them I know some people that received their's within 2-3 weeks but they said those were for students that were already enrolled but just posting new transcripts.

In any event, I know this is a long intro, but I'm wondering how many credits i will get for a 560 GRE Psych subject score? I saw someone post that they received 9 hours for a 590. I'm hoping I receive 6 hours. It was a more difficult test than I anticipated.

I know EC has the final word and I hope I get my evaluation soon, but they were adamant it'll be 6-8 weeks. That's another 3-5 weeks of waiting. I was hoping someone would know how many hours I'll get? If I receive 6 hours and I pass Humanities tomorrow I should have 121 hours and graduate. If I receive 3 hours then I'll have 118 (assuming I pass Humanities) and I'll need another clep.

Thanks!

I got a 610 on the Psych GRE in April and Excelsior gave me 15 credits. I'm pretty sure that she said they started giving credits at 565.

I checked today and I received 6 hours of lower level credit which I figured. But, 9 years ago I took a lower level psych class (intro) and one upper level (three thousand level class). So, I figured they would give me 3 hours credit since i received 6 hours lower level but I had a 3 hour lower level class. No can do. They said my upper level class was duplicative. So, it was a waste. I should have studied more. Oh well. I'm taking one more clep and I should be finished.

How they decide what is duplicative is a complete mystery to me. I had over 30 credits in biology, but was missing one of the required classes. So I took the GRE, scored over the 80th percentile and expected to get 3 credits to cover the missing class. They removed my old AP Biology (8 credits, lower level) and insist they can't change that back, and gave me 11 UPPER level credits for the GRE for a total of 36 credits in the major. I wanted as few GRE credits as possible to get the major as grad schools are not always keen on GRE credits on a transcript. Oh well. I still have plenty of coursework in biology as well as a second major in Psychology not reliant on GRE credits.

I sympathize. It's a complete mystery to me as well. I don't understand if you get lower level credits but have a upper level class why they would cancel out the lower AND upper level. They just told me it was duplicative. But, nothing I can do. Their rules.

You're right. It doesn't make any sense.

The safe thing is to wait for the advisor but if you are low on time just assume any previous credits you have will cancel regardless if you have only upper level and you receive lower level credits.
