Need 15 more Credits...Experts Please Help me Decide
#1
Hi all my first post here. I need 15 more credits for my degree, wondering which exams would be the easiest/fastest way to get me there.

What I've taken so far: American Gov't., A&I Literature, Intro to Sociology, and Intro to Psychology.

I'm looking now into the Dantes and a few more possible Cleps. The one's I am able and interested in taking are:

History U.S. I &/or II
Principle of Microeconomics
Spanish Level 1 (not sure how much I need to know?...fluency?)
Social Sciences and History
English Literature
Ethics in America DSST
Personal Finance DSST
Principles of Supervision DSST
Money and Banking DSST
Here's to Your Health DSST
Astronomy DSST
Physical Geology DSST
Intro to World Religions DSST
Principles of Public Speaking DSST

......and there are quite a few more social sciences that would apply to my degree.

Right now I'm confused which topics to pick from. I just want to get my degree done as easily and quickly as possible. Which would you choose?

You have 5 courses left to achieve 15 semester hours. Here's what I think are the "easiest" to accomplish/pass.

Personal Finance
Principles of Supervision
Ethics in America
Astronomy
Here's to your health

Again, this is only my humble opinion. There are others that would be good too but these might be the easiest.

Good luck!

I thought Astronomy was fun, and Geology's on my 'either/or' list. I hated studying for Microeconomics, but then that's just my likes/dislikes - I enjoyed Biology, and lots of folks hate Biology.

A question - do you need the 15 credits in particular subject areas or UL? If not, and you want to go fastest possible, you may want to consider building on your Intro to Psych study by taking CLEP Human Growth & Dev & CLEP Educational Psych (6 credits for minimal study on top of what you already learned for Intro Psych.) You may want to add the DSST Environment & Humanity to your 'might do' list; if you've got a moderate basis in earth science/biology, it's a pretty easy test to study for and pass. DSST Anthropology's a good 'add-on' to info learned for Psych and Sociology, and also serves as a base for either DSST World Religion and/or Cultural Geography.

Just a few ideas for you - I make it a policy to search out overlapping study subjects so that I can 'maximize my study utility' (EEEEK! some of the 'economics speak' from last week stuck, I have to quickly overwrite it with Anthro!) Wink

I would take the two history tests and then Social Sciences and History. You have already taken most of the tests that SS&H covers. Probably the eaisest left is personal finance. Congratulations on being so close to the finish line!

I can't imagine that you can just take anything- especially if you are at the end of your degree. You should check.

But, let's assume you just need gen ed electives. Based on what you took, I'd suggest this group which could be finished in 1 month:
US History 1, 3 credits
US History 2, 3 credits
Human Growth and Development, 3 credits
Social Studies and History, 6 credits

Do it in that order. That block combines with your block to prepare you for the 6 credit SS&H exam without additional study. History 1 and 2 would require the biggest chuck of study time- 2 weeks each. Human Growth can be done in about 1 week, and serves as the brush up for psychology. You won't need additional study for SSH since your existing exams cover almost all of the material.

I ditto this. The two history tests will help you out with Social Sciences and History. Although personally, I'd suggest Principles of Supervision instead of Personal Finance. In my opinion, it'd be much easier.

Thanks for the responses. I'm going to get with my Academic Advisor to make sure the test will apply before taking them but all I have left is lower division Electives, Just as long as the tests do not duplicate courses I have already taken. I'm going to check first on Personal Finance since this topic is one of my fav's and I'm pretty sure I could pass w/o studying since this area of study is almost like a hobby to me. Thanks again and I will follow everyone's advice!

OK, just talked to my Academic Advisor:

I can take (History of U.S. I & II) OR (Social Sciences and History), But not All three as SS&H would Duplicate History I & II

I can also take:

Personal Finance
Money and Banking
Here's to your health
Astronomy
Physical Geology
Ethics in America

I am taking (Personal Finance) for sure which leaves 4 more. Should I still focus on the History Cleps?

Social Science and History would be easier. I highly suggest the REA guide to CLEP general exams. That book is dead-on for the test.
