I just took the new Drug and Alcohol exam and with great sadness I did not do well. I used IC only and only three questions were on the exam from IC.
The test consisted of 101 questions and unless you are a pharmacists or know all sorts of drugs it is difficult to pass this exam. To help others, we need to get a book that contains the certain legal and illegal drugs in it.
Also, there were alot of psychoanalytic theories, and not much on crack, cocaine or the type of drugs we all know of. The drugs were more in line with mental health drugs, inhalants, and all sorts of pharmeceutical drugs.
Heres to your health - Don't underestimate this one either - 100 questions!
This exam is a cross between drug and alcohol and pychology. You need to know about the drugs used for mental health, dental and overall wellness. Several questions on different types of exercises and resistance training. Not a slam dunk exam either you either know it or you don't. Now, criminal justice, you can use common sense and figure out the answer.
I think the folks who re-wrote these exams wanted to raise the bar and they are much more difficult to pass without alot of study. I think I am marginal on heres to your health and completely failed drug and alcohol as I had no idea what certain drugs used in mental health do and the what the long and short term effects are.

Sorry to hear of your poor results. If you were there I'd buy you a pitcher of cold beer. I can see how this one would be hard without a background in pharmacy, like you said. I was in the opposite position as you when I took it, having been a pharmacy tech for 3 years I only had to study the illicit drugs and alcohol a little bit. This test is for 3 UL credits, it is supposed to be challenging. If there's anything good to come from this, keep in mind that failing an exam like this won't affect your GPA and you'll know what to study more specifically for when you take it again. Maybe it'll help to think of it as an expensive practice test! I know you'll ace it next time!!
I have 18 traditional credits and 51 exam credits. I've passed Introductory Sociology 76, Introductory Psychology 68, A&I Literature 66, Principles of Marketing 76, Introductory Business Law 71, Social Sciences & History 67, DSST Drug & Alcohol Abuse 450, Biology 69, Principles of Management 70, Natural Sciences 64, Intro to Business DSST 70, Principles of Macroeconomics 67, Principles of Microeconomics 58.

I too had the same results with the Drug and Alcohol back a few in FEB. I was going to take it at the end of June and stopped because the NEW Dante Drug and Alcohol test came out June 2008. The list of what to know from the Dante's site made me realize this test was going to include quite a lot of questions that perhaps IC didn't include. So your feedback on this test is extremely important to others, it seems you may be one of the first to take the new test. Please post to the Specific Section. Did it include cough medicines, anabolic steriods everyday ingredients in household OTC meds.? Sorry you didn't pass this test. I know how you feel.

I too felt this test was very hard and very technical! I just barely passed, and was surprised by all the brand names! If possible, please post your feedback in the specific exam feedback section.
I have to also say, that IC doesn't give you the questions. You are not the only one who has posted about that, but IC is just a tool. I found the best resource here is to use the specific feedback section for finding additional subjects for the exams. From there, look up anything and everything mentioned that you do not know. I hardly used the cards, I just used the specific exam feedback section to make a list and then off into the internet to study. (That section is free!)
I'm always a little caught off guard by how hard some of the tests are to be honest. I'm very happy for you that you passed Here's To Your Health!!! That's 3 credits! Whooo Hoooo! Congrats!

Sorry the delay in posting, had to take a couple days away from testing. The drug and Alcohol was all about the ingrediants in over the counter drugs, alot of questions on mental health drug ingrediants and all sorts of questions that had nothing to do with anything on IC. You need a drug handbook and then you can probably pass this test. There were alot of questions re cough surpressants and drug interactions with cough surpressants.
There was even a question re: synthesized drugs and which drug is safe for everyone of all ages? asprin, ibuprofen, advil, aleve. I mean, to me all of these are supposed to be safe. However, only one is the correct answer.
