I need 6 credits and I am hoping to get them with 1 CLEP. Im good at English, so I took English Comp and Freshman Comp, as well as analyzing lit. Unfortunately, I don't think I know enough authors to pass Am Lit of Eng Lit (are they knowledge heavy?). Any suggestions on (a) suitable class(es) to take, pref one worth 6?

Social Sciences & History is six credits - it's also pretty easy if you have any kind of background in history. Taking a glance at IC's Sociology Cards also helps. There's practice tests for it everywhere. Peterson's CLEP Success book comes to mind:
http://www.petersons.com/pdf/free/CLEPSuccess.pdf
It also has a review section that I did not use and therefore cannot comment on.
American Lit and English Lit do involve a deal of knowledge, I believe. College Math isn't too bad if you don't mind math.
Hope it works out,
R.

I agree...the College Math test (6 credits) was mostly high school level math concepts.

Why did you take both English Comp and Freshman Comp? Those both are considered by TESC to be equivalent to the course English 101/102. Is it different for your college?

Actually, English Literature is 60% analyzing what you read.
CLEP: English Literature
I told my brother when he was studying for this test: know that Beowulf is written in old English, a passage from Paradise Lost will probably be talking about Satan, angels or God (or Adam and Eve) and Geoffrey Chaucer wrote old English poetry. Be able to identify excerpts from those writings (it's pretty easy if you read a couple paragraphs in each) and that will probably be sufficient for knowing authors, etc.
Then brush up on the terms you learned for A&I Lit and you should be able to pass this no problem!

I found the Humanities test to be pretty basic. It was a lot of common sense.
The Eng. Lit and Am Lit. were pretty intense. Not terrrible if you know liturature and are good at it. Matching authors with sections of poetry and excerps from thier work. Recognizing different authors writing styles. Analyzing & Interpreting will be a big help to you.
Another poster recommended Sociology. Good test but it is only 3 credits.

If you're into the arts at all and haven't taken it already. You would just need to spend a day or two intensively brushing up on aspects of the arts that you're less familiar with.
