I’m preparing to pursue a Psychology bachelor’s at UMPI. Right now, I’m working on the last bit of English Composition I through Sophia. I can generally write, but I’m still ironing out an efficient process for the specifics of writing college papers. I have questions about the timing of UMPI YourPace terms, classes, and assignments.
Let’s say you sign up for 2 classes in a term and finish them, do you wait until the next term to sign up for 2 more?
I understand a term is 8 weeks, you go through the material, take tests, then you have research papers and powerpoints where you turn in drafts, get feedback, then submit your final draft.
How does the timing/deadlines of these assignments work?
Are there specific deadlines, or do you just need to finish everything by the end of the term?
What happens if you don’t?

Once you complete a course then you can request an additional course to be opened. You'll get instructions once you're enrolled at the beginning of your first term.
There are no tests. Some courses have quizzes which hold no point value. The only deadlines are the last day you can add a class, the last day to submit rough drafts, and the last day to submit final drafts. Everything must be 100% completed by the end of the term in your open courses. Failure to submit final drafts results in failing the course.

You sign up for the 1st course, then after you turn in the draft final, you can request to sign up for another one, and so on.
You need to complete the course you sign up for by the end of the term or else you get an F. Otherwise there are no deadlines.

You can no longer request a new class when you submit the draft. You now have to wait until you've submitted the final an have completed the course. This is a recent change. It's on Discord.

Also, if you can not complete a class you have taken on you can request to withdraw from it until another semester, but you will receive a W on your transcript. While I attended UMPI I had to W twice, it really holds no weight as people need to withdraw from classes for all sorts of reasons all the time.

UMPI: BA Criminal Justice
Pierpont: AAS BOG w/ Emphasis in Information Systems
Sophia: 24 Courses - The CSM Course - ASU: CIS 194 Business Technology Fundamentals

Furthermore, you may want to create a spreadsheet and share that as a viewable (not editable) document on your Google or One drive. We can comment on recommendations if needed. You can use the UMPI WIKI for reference in creating that degree plan with Sophia.org and other alternative credit options. You may also want to provide us more details about your particular scenario by completing the addendum and template...

Just to add here you can have up to 4 courses going at a time now. Your final final has to be submitted - not just the draft final - to request another course.
It does get a little annoying when you are waiting on grades and can't do anything else. I'll have all the milestones submitted for a class but until they are graded you can't submit
your draft final. Then until that is done you can't submit your final.
Depending on the instructor it can be shockingly quick how fast your grades come back OR you can feel like you are stuck behind the school bus with 36 stops to go.
I would go so far as to say the instructor for each class is the biggest factor of how long it takes to complete a course.
Technically speaking you could skip the draft and straight up submit it as a final only but then you risk it so probably not a good idea.
as to how many classes you can finish in a session... that is up to you. I started Jan 13 this year. right now I am "done" with 8 courses - waiting to submit a final or two as explained above but I for my part am done with the classes. I expect to finish a couple more by the end of the weekend.
So that will put me at roughly 3 weeks to complete the degree.
Your mileage may vary of course.
