I use "Rate my Professors" to learn and help other Students. Folks here should also. I find it 85% accurate to find excellent instructors and even better for finding the duds.
I always rate my instructors.

I use it to get feedback regarding faculty before registering for courses. Cannot afford a hit to g.p.a. this late in the process.

We use this regularly for my son's classes at CC. It helps a lot and he always contributes his thoughts at the end of each semester!

I also use it for online at CC's for taking classes. I like it. My one Excelsior Capstone I did rate that professor.
No one knows the Big 3 better than this site of characters.
Let's help weed out the duds and promote the great instructors. I have done maybe 40 ratings. 85% very high. 15% duds.
Would you want to take this class?

Sorry for practicing the dark art of necromancy here, but this thread reminded me that I actually used to be the local RMP site administrator for my uni back in around 2005 or something. I remember a lot of combing through comments to ensure they weren't just violently angry ramblings and the like. They also had some kind of weird "hotness" scale back then too, so good to see they're at least trying to raise their credibility. Overall, a lot of more recent ratings that I'm reading now for some different universities seem to lay out their reasons pretty well, so I'd agree that RMP can be a pretty useful tool for students to look into.

When using ratemyprofessor, keep in mind that bad ratings are not necessarily bad. If a person can't spell correctly or use good grammar, I treat a negative review from such a person as a positive review for the instructor.
