I hate you ALEKS!!!
Brutal. Brutal. Brutal.

I just withdrew from humanity (and maybe from the physical universe) for three days. Fifty four study hours later I passed the Business Statistics course.

Every time I thought I could outsmart ALEKS, ALEKS outsmarted me. Don't mess with ALEKS; he is like Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction.

"And, I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my assessments!"
75 credits in four months using InstantCert.

B.S. Liberal Arts, Excelsior College, cum laude.

Plus, one Washington Post blurb here.

Hey, does anybody know if there is a limit to how many ALEKS courses TESC will accept for credit? I'm starting to believe this is my most cost-efficient option.

The worst part is I can hear all of my old math teachers laughing and saying, "See? Toldja!"

It's penance for my sins. It must be. Who knew I was so evil?

Well I took some time off for New Year's and tomorrow I'll be back to screaming at the computer... I mean studiously learning the awesome wonders of Algebra!

NO LIMIT!

Just remember, they never take duplications.

Wow, that's a pile of cheap credit...21 credits?! But if it could have been in anything but math! However, the potential here is astonishing. Let's see, 25(FEMA)+21(ALEKS if/when complete)+AP(3)+Certs(3)+NFA(3)=55 credits, but how many can I use? Right now I just want any two year degree I can patch together and then I'll worry about the next step of getting what I really want.

Incidentally when exactly am I supposed to pay ACE that $40? Also I'm hoping the holiday has interfered because all my credit through ACE is STILL pending. I haven't paid them anything yet, so I'm hoping that doesn't have anything to do with it? The site didn't ask for any money...I heard there's a $40 fee, but when?

I'm starting to have enough credit that I need to actually figure out a degree plan so as not to duplicate effort or waste money. Where can I get cheap psychology/sociology credit? I think that's what I really need.

You are doing great!! You only pay ACE $40 when you need them to send a transcript (same for CLEP, etc) so for now- just keep on keepin on.

As for using your credits, you get to use all 27 FEMA in any of TESC's BA majors. Business is less (18?). If you go for an associate first, you'll have a lot less, 9ish. I would say skip the associates. I know other people say get it- and I did- but it really was a waste of $ (besides, now I have to explain how I went from an associate degree to bachelor's degree in 6 months....)

I calculate your current credits at 51.

27 FREE ELECTIVES:
FEMA 27 free elective
ALEKS 3 free elective (business stats)
NFA 3 free elective
CERTS 3 free elective
**you are done with free electives for any degree you choose- you have >6 that can't be used, don't take any more in this area**

24 GENERAL EDUCATION:
AP 6 (any AP score of 3 or higher is 6 credits, not 3- which subject?)
ALEKS 18 math (overflow into gen ed elective)

Oh no, I was under the impression that I could get 25 credits towards an associates. This is a bummer and my plans are veering back towards Red Rocks where they will take about 30 FEMA credits towards an associates; however, the silver lining of the AP class being worth six is huge.

Basically I need to make sure I get something on the way, in case there are delays, I'm skeptical of my own resolve, finances, and time.

My AP class was LIT (I never took the class but got a 4 on the test because I was poor and it was free!). Can I still take AP tests because I took the AP Language class and missed the test (that was very upsetting!), I think I could still get a 4.

BTW: I have not completed ALEKS yet. That's still an IF. I have done the beginning and intermediate courses only so far.

As some of you know my goal is to complete an associates degree without attending college, for under $1000 and as few CLEPs as possible (I fear spending money on a unsure thing); however, I will likely take one or two tech related CLEPs that I should be able to pass without much fear of failing.

All that said, Red Rocks may have a residency requirement, I'm uncertain. Also I need to see what they will take from ALEKS.

For EC students, the cheapest way to get Psych credits is by studying and taking the GRE -- $140 and you can get up to 30 credits ... 9 lower level and up to 21 upper level, depending on your percentile placement.

Not sure how TESC handles these, if at all. Can someone else chime in here.

What is a GRE test? General aptitude Exam? What does that entail exactly?
