Is Aleks still ACE accredited as of now?
#1
Hello,

I'm unable to find any actual concrete data on their current accreditation. Perhaps someone here might know their current situation a bit better?

Everything is good until 2020 except for beginning and intermediate Algebra which expired in 2017.

Yes, they have courses still approved through 2020 now. But some foils have said they have switched up their system a little, such as having to use a secure, locked browser to take an assessment.

Thank you! I'm guessing there are no proctor's as of this moment right?

Right, i think the locked browser serves that purpose for the most part.

No conventional proctors, the Respondus lockdown browser just keeps you from being able to switch apps, etc.

The new "ACE Knowledge Check" step is done separately from the regular ALEKS knowledge checks, but it can be done at any time once you've hit 70% or more on a regular knowledge check or the initial assessment. Basically, you have to take two knowledge checks back to back, and only the second one (which is now timed as well) counts for college credit.

I'm glad I managed to finish my last two ALEKS courses before the new policy went into effect. The lockdown browser doesn't bother me, but the time limit would have been an issue. With my dyscalculia, certain types of math take me a lot longer to work through. I'm not sure I could complete a knowledge check within the time limit, and even if I could it would add a ton of unnecessary stress and probably reduce my success.

This is how they're making it so people can't cheat.  Instead of proctoring.  It's probably a decent method,

Merlin, have you had your dyscalculia formerly diagnosed? I've always sort of suspected I might have some form of it but I'm not sure how one gets it checked.

So it's hand written notes or a separate logon and computer?  Did I say that?
