How are people maxing out 90 credits before starting WGU Software Engineering?

I want to take Software Engineering at WGU and I wanted to max out as many transferable courses as possible. I have completed 68 credits from Sophia and Study.com. I was wondering where i can take any of these courses than can be transferred to WGU.

Have you taken a look at the WGU WIKI or plans?  Do you have a spreadsheet created for reference and tracking purposes?

Your 68 credits may be essentially maxed out. There are other ways to get credit, but they may not be worth it for the extra time, money, and effort, compared to how easy it would be to complete the courses at WGU. One example is the ITIL exam:

It's hundreds of dollars to take it on your own, but you can study for it while you're waiting to start at WGU, then knock it out right away.

There may be other places to complete some of the other courses, such as the DSST Technical Writing exam. However, WGU doesn't list transfers for CLEP or DSST, so you will only find out if it still transfers once you complete it and submit it for evaluation. Or if you already had a technical associate's degree already, they may grant a block transfer that would knock out three more courses. But you've already gotten all the low-hanging fruit, so at this point it's much easier to just complete the courses at WGU. As I mentioned earlier, you should be able to get enough information about several of the remaining courses to either pre-study for an exam or pre-write for the performance assessment, then pass those courses quickly when you start and move on to the rest. 90 credit is technically the max for WGU, BUT for most programs you can't find 90 credits of transferrable courses, so I think for SWE degree 68 is probably the max.

You may not need this info anymore, but for anyone else who does... max transfer credit for WGU undergrad degrees is 75% of total credit minus the capstone. In this case, the max is 86, not 90. [(119-5)*0.75]

OP hasn't logged back on since their first post... It's still best to see if you can get up to 86 credits with Coursera, Sophia.org, Study.com, StraighterLine and whatever else they take for ACE credits. Obviously, some credits can't be transferred in due to no alternative credit classes available, or it's a requirement for residency credits such as the capstone.
