It had been forever since I last took all my high school math courses offered, however, I had forgotten most of it. I hired a tutor for two weeks to help explain why & how to solve the problems. I also have a CD on algebra that I used...it was designed for kids but at that stage it spoke well to my knowledge level.

Here's the feedback I posted in the Specific Exam Feedback section. If you are paying for the IC flashcard service, you can access the rest of the thread too:

Ruddigore Wrote:I took this test after less than two weeks of preparation. Some months before, I had begun using REA’s book for the test, but found it too bare-bones. I needed some explanation and practice problems occasionally. That’s when I got my main study source: The CLEP Professor Program.

CLEP Professor’s College Algebra CD is wonderful. With it, anyone who has any memories of algebra can easily brush up for and pass this exam. Once I finished it, I was getting scaled scores from the lower to mid 60s on the REA exams and lower 70s on the CLEP Prof’s practice exams.

I reviewed REA’s third test before going into my test. Once I was in front of the computer and going through the tutorials, I performed a brain dump, writing down all the formulas I could remember (don’t let formula’s scare you; you CAN memorize them). This formula sheet was invaluable while I took the test, less because I used it a ton (probably for six questions max), but because it helped me to relax during the test.

When my final score of 62 appeared, I was very pleased. Anyone who can think mathematically can take this test, though it will take some preparation.

I took this test 1 month back. Peterson's exam is easy when compared to original test. Make sure that u learn word problems. I had almost 10-15 word problems. The only books I referred was college algebra demystify and some college algebra book. U can get these books from library and check Clep official guide.

Thanks for the information. I'm not paying for IC right now because I know they don't have any study material for Algebra. IC has been great for me in the past, though.

Thanks again!

I have been searching the earth for something to teach me college algebra.

If you are like myself and have forgotten everything about the subject than I suggest the following:

Table of contents - A complete course in algebra

Currently I have a textbook and the REA Clep Study guide. (Right now useless to me)

REA will work if you have the foundation set. ie: you know and understand the material. Right know I am not even to the point where I can use the REA Clep study guide, petersons or even a college textbook. The website mentioned above is great. It is the best source that I have found so far for the College Algebra CLEP.

I have not taken a math course in over 12 years. In highschool I did not pay attention and was more concerned with chasing women and drinking beer. Take a look at that site mentioned to train from the beginning.

Table of contents - A complete course in algebra

This website is just as good as a textbook. Currently using it right now. Let me know what you think.
