Cheap RA credits not so cheap...
#11
What kills me is the $100+ registration fee PER CREDIT. It's a 3-credit class, it's not like I can register for a single credit. Even as a per-semester fee, that would be outrageous.

That's still a good price, but they should be more up front about the real costs. I'd be wary of whatever else they're hiding up their sleeves and look somewhere else.  Dodgy

$700 for 3 credits is really not a good price, IMO, unless it happens to be some obscure credits that are hard to obtain elsewhere.

True. I'm paying $1050 per 3 credit course at CSU Global. Everyone regardless of residency pays that amount. I think the issue with the OP's post was really the over inflated registration fee that's charged per credit.

Oh, believe me... there's no way in the world I'm going to enable this.

Yes. YOU knew that, I knew that, THEY knew that. But when we got the gang - street name "Registrars," downtown at the Precinct, not even the Captain could wring an admission out of 'em. They ALL lawyered up!

LOL  They got mixed up with the wrong crowd - TicketMaster. They have perfected the art of ridiculous fees and colleges have learned that they can too. It's not like people in general have a choice. They just suck it up and go in debt. Great system! If you're the one raking in the dough.

Except the Tuition and Fees page told a different story. I figured I had to be misinterpreting it, so I emailed. Nope. It really is... $243.75 per credit.

These are the fees PER CREDIT (not per course):

Registration fee Lower Division $106.75
Technology fee $8.50
Student Union fee $9.00
Athletics & Rec fee $2.00
Non-Resident (part-time) Lower Division Tuition) $117.50

Yes, $731.25 per 3-credit course. Each credit incurs $126.25 in fees on top of tuition. I can't even wrap my mind around that. How do you charge a separate registration fee for each credit? Who runs this joint, Ticketmaster??

Anyway... that was my Moment of WTF today.

WOW. Thanks for sharing that.

Conferred AUG 2023 - AAS BOG, Business AoE, Pierpoint Community & Technical College

118 total RA & Alt credits from ONU, ASU, ACE (Aleks, SDC, SL, Sophia)

Applied in JAN 2024 to UMPI for MAR 2024 term (pending) | BA in HIS & POL SCI

California and Nevada community colleges do not charge tuition.  They have registration "fees" instead.  However, actual tuition (on top of "fees") is charged for out-of-state students.  It has been this way since I went to a CA community college 1983-85, and likely much longer than that.
