BUS-3110 Business in Society TECEP Review
#1
As someone who has a business mindset, this exam was one of the easier ones I have taken without specific prep. There is still a need to make sure you understand the terminology, but this exam focuses more on the application of concepts rather than technical knowledge. You must be prepared to write a lot as half of the score of the exam will be the 5 different written essays.

Things that stood out to me from the exam description that you may want to focus on are Sustainability, Ethics, Corporate governance and Outside stakeholders. Understanding how a business fits within its local as well as global environment and how different actions can impact the mission of the company will be important.

Time spent studying = 0
Previous knowledge = Certificate in Human Resources, Business Law CLEP, Ethics DSST, several business related college courses.
Relevant work experience = 1 year as an operations manager, 1 year as a production manager.

Final Score = 91%

I know this post is older but I had a question I hope to get some guidance on (messaged by advisor but hes been dishonest a lot so I want to make sure. I am on a time crunch to finish my last 4 classes to graduate for my BAST before November. I am enrolled in two classes and taking two TECEPs. One of them I found a study course for Managerial  Communications, the other, Business in Society I can'f find specific material for. I have management experience and just passed Comptia Project +/ and A+, I also work as a Biomed Tech so I am somewhat familiar with the things you mentioned. My man reason for taking these is to meet the residency requirement, for military they count TECEP as residential. Study.com proctors their own TECEPS except instead of 240 a test its a monthly rate with college saver. Do those COllege Saver tecep exams on Study.com count as resesidency credit? Its the same method, proctor U examination. Previously my advisor heavily pushed these straighterline labs (1 credit classes that costed 100+250 per lab and I still had to take the 3 credit course anyway because the advisor told me there was no class that had course + lab. Basically could have taken a 12 week class with he lab paid for by the military and the course covered for the same price and instead thanks to his lie I had to take the expensive, tedious straighter line lab and a separate 12-week course. I no longer trust his advice but IM so close to finishing that I am sticking with it. Any advice would be appreciated. That got a little off topic but, do tecep on study.com count as residency like regular TECEP throught TESU?

Study is either ACE or NCCRS, not RA credit. So it wouldn’t count toward residency.

If the credit originates from Study.com, it's ACE or NCCRS and does not count toward RA or military residency at TESU.

If the credit originates from a TECEP exam registered and administered through TESU, that counts as RA and military residency at TESU. Study.com does offer courses to prepare for several TECEP exams. These courses don't originate credit themselves; they're unofficial study aids.

What you see on study.com are sort of study guides with around 60% of the most relevant content for their respective TECEP exam. Finishing those guides grants 0 credit, but answered quizzes might overlap with other study business courses in case you wish to transfer ace credit from them someday a bit more quickly.

The study tecep courses they have are super useful, but you need to study elsewhere for the remaining 30-40% of the exam material. Look at the topic rubrics of each tecep exam, become familarized with the sample questions (some sample questions also might appear in the real exam!). They might suggest 10 books to study, but they tend to be expensive textbooks and you can study from any book the exact topics listed in the topic list.

If the study guide mentions there are essays, be familiar with the topics and plan your time. If the exam is 100 multiple option with 2 essays, the essays are at the end and you can't return to previous parts of the exam. Some people fail Teceps because they used too much time on the multiple choice questions and either rushed the essays or didn’t complete them.

In short, Study.com and ACE options are not RA. Study.com TECEP prep classes do not have the ACE recommendation for credit, they're prep classes. I highly recommend reviewing the TECEP guidelines as they have textbooks (some are OER), you should review those resources in addition to what you already know for that subject matter TECEP.
