BA in 16-18 weeks?
#51
Motivation is there. I started the day before yesterday. The people who come on here and say it can't be done only fuels me more so keep it coming. Ill keep everyone updated and I'm sure there will be a few of you in this thread who i will lean on for some solid info.

Yesterday morning i filled put the online app for enrollment, called them two hours later, talked to a nice lady in admissions about expediting the app. She said sure and then proceeded to call me 5 hours later and also sent me an email letting me know i was accepted. Same day turnaround.

I did run into one small issue this morning and looking for feedback from the group. Here is what an advisor told me, thoughts? (copy and pasted response)

Coop,

The BUS-421, Strategic Management, option will only be available as a TECEP exam through the June 2017 term. After that, it will be renamed to "Business Administration Capstone" and will only be offered as an online course. However, this option is considered a final degree requirement, typically taken at the end of a student's path. Also, this option requires some prerequisite courses in the Core that you have not yet attempted. I recommend that you wait to attempt BUS-421 until later in the degree program.

hi Coop,
I'm trying to do the same thing basically as you.. and want to bypass the capstone by taking the exam. I did a search for it and it looks like its just a suggestion to take these before the test but not mandatory (i'm hoping) i found this on the tesu website..

BUS-421 Business Administration Capstone

Strategic Management is a senior-level Capstone course that focuses on the development and implementation of strategy as a means to success in business. This course integrates concepts and applications from various functional areas of business. Relying heavily on case studies, the focus is on how managers engage in strategic thinking, planning, analysis and execution to gain a sustained competitive advantage in the marketplace.

Advisory: It is advisable to have knowledge in a course equivalent to FIN-301 Principles of Finance, MAN-301 Principles of Management, MAR-301 Principles of Marketing, ACC-101 Principles of Financial Accounting, ACC-102 Principles of Managerial Accounting, ECO-111 Microeconomics and ECO-112 Macroeconomics with a grade of C or better to succeed in this course. Students are responsible for making sure that they have the necessary knowledge.

They are saying the same as we are. The TECEP exam option is only available until the new change in July. Once it has gone then the BSBA at TESU will have to do a 12 week $1500 capstone course.

If you can't get onto the TECEP in time, then as per my original reply the earliest you are looking at is December graduation, but only if you can get everything done by around July time to get signed up for the August capstone. If you miss the August start then you will drop onto March graduation.

Hopefully they will let you sign up for the TECEP as I don't think the requirements are set in stone, but if they are then I am not sure how you will get the core requirements finished and credits sent and evaluated in such a short time.

I don't think it's a requirement, just a suggestion. But, it will certainly be harder for you without any back ground knowledge. I would suggest taking Principles of Management at least before taking it.

Haha, I recommend this as well, or as per the advisory note, complete those courses listed from Straighterline or Study.com to "get" the basic knowledge.
Then study the recommended text book, creating your own notes to recall the info better, then record yourself reading your own notes, play it in your sleep!

Thats good advice.. looks like all of the courses are in the degree requirements anyway so the credits will be useful if you can blow through some of all of them before the Tecep. After some1 signs up for the tecep.. how long until they have to take it? Is it right away? Or do u have time to "get" some of that knowledge haha. I'm trying to blow through the free classes as we speak and plan to take some of the 6 credit clep test asap. It all is starting to feel more and more doable every time i pass something lol

At TESU, you register for a TECEP just as you would register for a course - you even have to choose the term. So, right now, you can register for the May term, which starts May 1st and ends July 23. Once you're registered for the term, you can take the exam at any point during the term (although you have to sign up through ProctorU as well to take it, and there's a charge to take it without a 3-day wait). Anyway, you can schedule it any time during the term, although I don't recommend waiting until the last minute to take it, as there can be issues with ProctorU and you might miss the deadline (happened to me).

Besides Principles of Management, I'm not sure you should spend time on CLEP. Someone else would know better than me. Maybe there are some that would be worth it.

Edit: I would also say don't spend time on some of the free stuff yet, so you have more time for TECEP prep and other stuff, but I'm not an expert at this.

But it's also a cost thing. If you have to watch your spending on this, in my "My Journey" thread, I got help to make a list of the cheapest ways to meet the business core requirements. Just letting you know in case you need to save on everything. (Some of the more expensive exams may be easier than the cheapest ones.)

If you decide to go for the cheaper route, like me, you may want to apply for the study.com scholarship immediately. They sometimes take over a week to approve someone, or even over 2 weeks. (Not everyone gets approved.)

It's nice that some of us are working on similar stuff. I figure if we are working on the same stuff, that's even better.

I agree it is *very* nice that you are working on a very similar goal. Honestly the more i look at it i'd also rather have the CIS than mgmt but it all depends on how much longer it will take. Yes I was looking at your journey thread too. Cost is totally an issue i'm dealing with. So I'm looking to do this a quickly and as cheaply as I can. THe free things are certainly time consuming so far i've only finished the ethics one and cyber 101 now i'm on 201 so i'll try to finish at least that one for now then take a break and go onto something else I did the application and 2moro i'm going to call them to expedite me. Thanks for mentioning study.com scholarship i didnt know it was even an option. Wont hurt to try. I'm going to look at ur thread again. I totally need to map out a cheap plan that is also fast. I've got a shitload of time on my hands so i plan to just treat this as my new ft job.
