Both of these factors make the DSST version, for me at least, a no-brainer as opposed to the ECE version. I initially planned to take the ECE Statistics exam (UL credit), but based on advice from others here I changed my plans to the DSST version (LL credit). The only downfall is I had to make up for the loss of 3 upper level credits elsewhere.

Anar,
Just so you know, the Excelsior version of Statistics is ALSO Lower Level...not UL as you stated.
So you would have had to find an extra UL exam anyway, even if you HAD taken the ECE Stats.

I've only taken 2 CLEPS so far but I have relied on how well I do on the flashcards and the practice CLEPs. I mean, I studied for only about 4 hours TOTAL for Intro to Sociology. It is pass/fail so why overdo it? I'm sure on the tough ones I will spend MUCH more time but for the easier pass/fail tests I plan to knock them out as quickly as possible.
Now for the ECE History of Nazi Germany test I plan to study my butt off!!!

I take about 2 weeks for each CLEP exam. Like said above, if it is a pass/fail grade, I try to study as little as I can get away with
I need to add that I am married and we have a 3 year old and a 7 month old, and I work full time. I mainly study after the kids have gone to bed (say about 1 to 2 hrs each night).
I'm sure I'll need more time for DSST Statistics which will be next on the list. I know I just need to bite the bullet but I just love CLEP Exams!
Oh, I also need to say I feel way better about scoring a 65 like I did on Accounting (I needed 55 for my community college and 50 for Excelsior) than I would about scoring in the 70's because it would mean I overstudied. My first CLEP's were all in the early 70's and I regret taking 4 weeks to study for each (mainly History I and II).

On the thread topic... I just took the CLEP Marketing exam, studied for 8 hours each day, 3 days straight, and passed with a 66. My method is I transfer all the slides onto Word format, print, and then read every single question/answer, making sure I grasp the concept. Along the way I highlight key terms and descriptions of things I need to fully memorize before the exam; I skip things that will logically come to me or I already know. Then I'll go over my highlights a couple of times and that usually does the trick. I do rely on practice tests to make sure I'm able to apply what I've learned. With this last exam, Marketing, there was only the College Board mock exam available, so I was a bit uneasy.

Oh yes, I hear ya!
I took the last couple of weeks off from studying. I had been studying intensively for Statistics for a few weeks solid. Then I took Statistics on a Monday, Human Resource Management on the Friday, and Ethics in America on the following Monday. My brain was toast after that! It was the Statistics that did me in, I think!
Now I am refreshed again, and I'm ready to begin studying for USSR, Criminal Justice, and Environment & Humanity.
One day soon I will get to the very last exam..but for now, I just keep plodding along.
My name is Rob

I know exactly what you mean about being worn out! I can't stop though, now that I've reacquired some momentum. I took about 1.5 months off, went to Europe, twiddled my fingers, and I'm trying to catch up now! I guess I'm trying to "feed off" that positive energy from passing one exam and using it for the next. Before I know it I might be running on fumes!

Anar, in looking at your signature, if you have micro next, I have some unsoliticted advice.
Based on my experience, micro (and macro) economics can be passed pretty easily using only IC. I scored a 61 on each. I study about 2-3 hours a day (longer on weekends, if I can) and try to take one exam per week. With CLEPS in general, I only augment IC with the collegeboard's practice test. And I use it kinda like you do, at the very end. In fact, I'm usually studying it as I'm walking from my car to the testing center!
So, what I'm trying to say is - micro should be fairly straight forward and easy enough to cross of the list!
