Another road bump ..
#1
I just found out that the California Teacher Credentialing is pending approval to not require the CSET exam if you major in Liberal studies with an overall GPA of 2.67... I am curious if Excelsior college is a better option for me to fulfill this but I am wondering if Liberal Arts is the same thing?? Also I was currently almost finished with my BSBA from Thomas Edison .. but as I have stated before the plan was to become a teacher after receiving my bachelors degree so with this new change I am back to the drawing board.. If i took a degree from Thomas edison I somehow doubt an overall GPA for 1 class would count? so my question is how hard is excelsior's capstone and Uexcel exams?? I am a little worried about completing these and wondering if theres a way around them besides taking expensive classes through them.. I need 3 of them..

Also here is what I found stated on a University website in CA regarding this change...

Pending approval by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC), effective Fall 2017, successful completion of the major, with either a 2.67 overall grade point average or a 2.75 grade point average in the last 60 units, fulfills all CCTC requirements for an approved waiver of the California Subject Examinations for Teachers: Multiple Subjects (CSETs). Students who do no complete those requirements must take and pass the CSETs for entry into the Multiple Subjects and/or Education Specialist Credential Programs. Please see the Chair of the Department of Liberal Studies or the Coordinator of the Credential Program (Department of Teacher Education) for specific details.

60 units is a lot Sad It seems much easier and cheaper to take the CSET.

I have 111 quarter units from a university and 26 units from a junior college so I already have the credits

So do you have the GPA required? If so, then it doesn't matter if you get a GPA specifically at TESU (or anywhere else).

I have the spreadsheet I made you for the TESU BSBA and BALS. Let me know if it's been updated since I made it (any courses/exams completed since 3/31?). If not, even so, you were already very close to the BALS. All you needed was English Comp II, the Info Lit requirement, Ethics, and the Civic Engagement requirement, and then the capstone. Done.

You could sign up for the Capstone for June, and apply before Oct 1 for December graduation. And sign up for Study.com to get the discount on the Residency Waiver, the waiver of the cornerstone, and 2 courses to boot.

You might want to verify whether or not your GPA has to be on the transcript of the school awarding the degree. There was one alternative teaching certification program that said my GPA had to be on my TESU transcript. Another program agreed to calculate my GPA, but I believe they've since changed their policy.

If this is the case though, the capstone will provide your TESU GPA for you, so that's good.

You are very close to being done with the BALS, I would definitely get that first. You can always take the Strategic Management TECEP exam now, to get that before you stop with the business courses, and then complete your BSBA after you finish the BALS.
