ROAD MAP for EXCELSIOR BSBA in FINANCE
#1
Hello Everyone,
I am brand new at this forum and at credit by examination. My husband is looking to receive his degree in Business concentrated in Finance. We have been researching the big three for days and finally decided to stick to Excelsior because it is the one that best matched up to exams and lets him test mostly out of everything except for 3 classes. We have finally created a road map to begin his degree-pursuing journey. hilarious Believe me, it took us forever to research the various courses and exams. Here is our current road map. On the exams that say OR, we havent decided which would be better to take. Please feel free to comment, make any suggestions, or use it as a starting guide. I have also attached a link where you can find an excel spreadsheet showing how these exams match up to the courses. Smile Any help or additional information is greatly appreciated!!

Are you sure Sales Management would count as a finance course? It's generally considered a marketing course. I think you can take Information Literacy at Penn Foster, and it will be a lot cheaper. At TESC, you would be left with 3 or 4 classes to take for the BSBA in Finance. I don't know if the Financial Institutions and Markets TECEP and Money and Banking DSST will duplicate there. Their credit distribution page makes it seem like they do. I don't see that COSC has a finance concentration, but they do offer a business degree. You can completely test out of TESC's BSBA in General Management.

If you can switch out the EC Information Literacy course for a PF course, then you will save a bit. However, if Sales Management is not accepted as a finance course, then I'm assuming you will take 9 credits at EC. That's $3,825 just for tuition. That doesn't include the enrollment fee. Maybe you can find finance courses somewhere else and transfer them in if money is a concern. Penn Foster offers Corporate Finance, and it was ACE approved the last time I checked.

Yeah that makes sense, I don't believe that Sales Management would count then... and yeah that would bring tuition up. I just found that tuition is about $425 per credit, so yeah, you are right. I will look into seeing if Information Literacy could be taken at Penn foster and that would help some. We will have to edit the roadmap a bit.
I think we will try creating a roadmap for TESC's BSBA in general management. I did not know that you could completely test out of that one. If that is the case then we might just switch over. I've seen many people in this forum do TESC's BSBA in general management. Thank you so much for the great insight and help! This is why i'm so grateful for this forum.

The TESC road map is pretty well laid out. I think it would make a better choice if for no other reason than the fact that so many around here know it. I can't even remember the last time I heard someone trying to CBE a Business degree at EC (it can probably be done...I just wouldn't want to blaze that trail).

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

You could probably completely test out of the BS in Business with General Business concentration at Excelsior with the exception of the capstone. You might save money too over TESC. It's just easier to get the UL credits at TESC.
