I only used the REA book. Time wise I'm not sure, but I did all three practice test several times. It got to the point where I pretty much already knew the answer(s)
I wasn't worried what I actually scored on the practice test, I was more concerned with getting the "reading style" down to where I was used the some of the passages that had words that were missing a letter, in an unusual context, capitalized or some other weird punctuation that was used.
DEFINITELY go to instacert and become a member so you can have access to the A & I Literature flash cards. If I had know A&I was available, I would have used the flash cards.
As for scheduling, I called my local CC and asked what day(s) were available for A&I CLEP, got the days and was testing two days later. I could have scheduled it from 3 days to several months away....
