Amberton University:The Next Big Thing?
#31
One note about North Dakota's (and I think South Dakota, too) program: it's synchronous, which would kill it for most people outside the Americas.

IMO, the best cheap distance MSM is at the University of Alabama... Last I checked, it was ~$12.5k and only 30 credits. Plus, Manderson (Bama's graduate business school) is not only AACSB, but ranked and produces good research. I've actually considered doing that degree with an Operations Management major after I finish my MBA next year in the hopes that I pick up a few things I didn't have time for in my MBA.

On the website it says, in "addition to current tuition, all students enrolled in the Manderson Graduate School of Business are required to pay a fee of $250 per course." Does that apply to the MSM and the MAM?
Don't miss out on something great just because it might also be difficult.

Road traveled: AA (2013) > BS (2014) > MS (2016) > Doctorate (2024)

Yes, in total ~$1250 per course, if I recall.

Thanks. I'm trying to find the pre-req for the MAM. Is statistics in undergrad studies required? I had my heart kind of set on SEMO but this is worth looking into...

The weird thing is the MAM is not even found on the Manderson website. It's found on the Culverhouse website. But, if you click on MAM on the Culverhouse website it takes you to Manderson. LOL

Try it...is it just me. Find MAM and see if it leads you to Manderson? http://cba.ua.edu/

Many countries outside of the US also have a distinction between "college" and "university." Even Canada, if I remember correctly.

You guys have been more than wonderful. Thanks. I will take some time to go through Sanatone's, Rebel's, and Soliloquy's links and make my mind as to which to go for. As some of you have suggested and based on my "research," I think AACSB is the gold standard and I should go for it. I am now looking to an AACSB program from a B&M with an 100% online business course (doesn't have to be MBA, could be MS, MA in HR or Management). I am willing to pay up to 12k.

I notice that their counseling degrees are not CACREP accredited. A lot of states don't require CACREP but the ACA is really getting heavy with their lobbying so expect that to change. Also that lobbying has succeeded in getting the federal government to require CACREP accredited programs for work in any government run counseling services such as those with the VA.

In other words, you really need to go with a CACREP program for the most flexibility.

FYI, I just received this from Univ. of Alabama

@@@, there are no perquisites for this degree . We encourage out of college majors. We prefer the GMAT but accept the GRE and weigh them equally. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you

Yup, it's a general-level graduate degree for people who are looking for something different from an MBA. The staff I've interacted with have been fantastic as well.
