University of the Cumberlands ACTFL
#1
So before taking my ACTFL test, I went through like all the ACTFL threads on this forum and I found out that the consensus was that schools probably wouldn't accept an ACTFL test for English.

Turns out that University of the Cumberlands only accept the English ACTFL:

Quote:Hello Arshveer,

We received your speaking proficiency today; however, we wouldn’t be able to accept it as the Credly Achievement was for a test of Punjabi proficiency, and we only consider tests of English proficiency for credit equivalency.

I have responded asking which type of ACTFL tests they accept and where they transfer into. Since they only accept English, I'm guessing it transfers into English which is weird as I feel that would be remedial.

That is quite strange because the ACTFL themselves mention native English speakers are not allowed to take the English test and it's only accesible to ESL speakers.

Generally, people take ACTFL for getting credit in a language they're wanting credit for, most of the time, it's not going to be for English to get into an institution, it's for any other language, this saves energy, money, time as some institutions require 3 to 6 credits of a language for undergrad studies completion...

Update: While in the original email, the director said no to the credits, I was able to get in touch with the executive director and my credits were accepted.

That's great! I winder if some of the issue on their end is the need to create a new transfer credit name because it isn't as common to see students take Punjabi over languages like Spanish or French.
