Admission for GCE-Advance Level Holders
#11
Thanks for all the help you guys previously provided regarding my transfer. I got my transcript evaluated  and I was award 90 credits but I don't know if UMPI will take all of them. I reached out to the admission team and they asked me to fill the "apply now" form on their website, I'm an international student so I don't have a social security number neither do I have an American phone number and this are required fields on the form. Hence, I cant submit the form if I don't have both. Has any one got a solution to this.

You shouldn't need a SSN if you're applying as an international student. But you can use Dingtone or Textfree apps to get a free US number if you need one of those.

You don't need a SSN, but you should enter in the phone number best to reach you, not the US number. Doesn't it have a field for anything other than the US number? I would look at the application again and see if you can select Cameroon and whatever number you use. Sometimes having an option for TextFree and other apps may work, but if they ever needed to text or contact you, and you don't use the app at all, you won't receive anything. A working phone number is best if you can get that entered into their system...

Unfortunately, no, even when you select "international", the phone number field is formatted only for US numbers. They also call it a ZIP code instead of a postal code for international addresses. Someone messed up BIG time when creating the international application.

I don't think they meant to exclude anyone. We can all have our moments of stupid.

On the apply now feature for UMPI, it doesn't have the request for SSN option, and doesn't allow you to change the 10 digit telephone number... if that is the case, I wouldn't worry about the SSN, just type in a temp telephone number (a fake one at that, it doesn't matter, email them your real one when they go through the application), or decide on the info below.

They also have an ApplyMaine Option and another for Common App, both of them requires SSN and also allows you to enter in a real telephone number. I should apply to them since I am looking to ladder up my Pierpont BOG AAS to the UMPI BAS with a couple of minors or three... I don't think I'll use the YourPace application, I'll use the ApplyMaine or Common App.

Does Apply Maine or Common even go to YourPace? I suspect not. It might mess things up to not use the specific YourPace app.

Don't think so, I know it goes to all of Maine System and UMPI is one of the options, doesn't give you the choice to select Your Pace though. Sad, I don't want to send info to their Enrollment Specialists, I am looking to bypass their sales... and go directly to the source...
