**ALERT** 8 CLEP exams downgraded
#31
Nightmoves5 Wrote:Checked the ACE website via the link provided but found nothing about a downgrade...did anyone recently take any of the exams listed here as downgraded?

You have to snoop- they didn't write an announcement. Go into each exam's approval link on ACE and you'll find the credit recommendation at the bottom of each exam. It doesn't say downgraded, it just says the score, so you can look up previous credit recommendations to compare against the new ones to create the list. (which is how I did it) The link I shared is CLEP's summary table, with the new amounts.

I went to ACE and checked it out. I just completed Beginning Algebra and sent on to EC. I'm awaiting my Eval. What does this mean at the bottom of the Beginning Algebra exam?

"Credit Recommendation: In the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in pre-algebra or introduction to algebra (12/13)." This doesn't mean I had to complete Pre or Intro Algebra as a pre-req does it? I'm in the BS Lib Arts and all I should require is simply Beginning Algebra for the math req.

No, it doesn't. It's a suggestion from ACE on where the credit should be placed, as an equivalent to Pre-Algebra or Intro to Algebra in their own catalog.

I received my evaluation back today from TESC. I took these tests on Oct. 12. I scored a 55 on the CLEP Spanish I/II exam, and a score of 59 on the CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature exam. This is horrible news. I was trying to get my husband to take CLEP's and many of these tests would have been timely and helpful to help him gain undergrad credits. This is just terrible news. He's not home yet, but I will have to give him the news.

cookderosa Wrote:Bad news....

CLEP has undergone their ACE exam review and a total of 8 exams have been DOWNGRADED the recommended credit value.

If you are not locked into/enrolled in a degree plan, the new credit amounts will apply.

American Literature DOWNGRADED from 6 to 3 credits.
Analyzing and Interpreting Literature DOWNGRADED from 6 to 3 credits.
College Composition Modular DOWNGRADED from 6 to 3 credits.
English Literature DOWNGRADED from 6 to 3 credits.
Humanities DOWNGRADED from 6 to 3 credits.
All three foreign language exams remain at 6 credits for a level 1 pass but DOWNGRADED to 9 credits for level 2 passes (scores vary-see link).
