The parent university (Patten) offers the same degree with the same curriculum–exact same course titles and numbers–but for the aforementioned $330/credit. (Still inexpensive but you'd end up paying more for three courses than you would the entire degree at Elmwood.)
Wonder what the differences are, other than tuition and term length.
Current: WGU BS, Cybersecurity and Information Assurance (086/122 credits)
Done: Pierpont AAS, Board of Governors: Information Systems emphasis (awarded Dec 2022)

Hmm, I wonder if the classes are virtually identical and that they're charging more because Patten is RA... My other thought was, even though this is NA, it's a good option for those who want to continue onward to Doctoral studies that take NA credit as prerequisites or whatever...

Oh snap, I got lost in translation... err... time, thought this was the same institution from a few years ago! Oh yes, it even says on their webpage that they're NA DEAC and not to confuse them with the older defunct "Patten University". https://www.patten.edu/accreditationandlicensure

Does anybody knows how the courses are structured and how long is each one?
Can you go to your own speed or have to make 4 month sessions? That will be interesting to know (07-21-2024, 05:11 AM)Kab Wrote: Does anybody knows how the courses are structured and how long is each one? I sent them an email with some questions. Not the exact ones you ask here, but perhaps that will answer some questions. I did ask why it was so shockingly inexpensive, what would the diploma say (Elmwood or Patten or both), whether they allow students who are also concurrently enrolled in a different program elsewhere… Hopefully they will answer when they return tomorrow.

I think we'll have to wait at least another year to find out.I was trying to find additional information about Elmwood Institute and found a job ad for President of the institution: https://www.ziprecruiter.com/c/NewUni,-I...8260f43003 Elmwood is meant to provide educational opportunities in Africa and the goal is for it to become a stand-alone degree granting university. This is certainly conjectural on my part, but I would be surprised if Elmwood substantially expands their offerings at this price point to people in the US. I would think they are trying to offer degrees through Elmwood in anticipation of seeking accreditation for it independent of Patten, establishing a history of students attending and graduating from Elmwood, and/or building critical mass of students (of any origin) prior to shifting to African students primarily or exclusively. It doesn’t make much business sense for Patten to cannibalize their own students from the US long term. Again conjectural, but I would imagine they will raise the price to American students (to be more in line with Patten) or restrict to African students eventually.
