2012 CLEP study guide - how do I score the practice test?

I recently went through the 2012 official CLEP study guide booklet for Biology and took the practice test. I got 46 right out of 70. However, I have no idea how this translates to the actual CLEP test score. I'd like to get an idea of how ready...(or not ready!) I am for the exam. Any help would be appreciated.

I've never used the Official CLEP Study guides (maybe once). I would recommend you get the REA CLEP book for Biology (you can get them at a library for free). It has full length practice exams and it breaks down the scores for you too. I would go with that and the IC flashcards for this exam.

well, I'd never trust 1 test. If you can keep pulling 65% on any other practice tests (REA - great suggestion, or Petersons) you're good to go. 65% on one test makes "me" nervous, but you might be ready...or they might have asked you questions you knew. (as opposed to those buggers you don't know lol)
One last thought: don't re-use a practice test to determine readiness, use new ones.

Don't be overconfident but 46/70 is a good score. I usually use that practice test as my last indicator as to whether I am ready since it doesn't really help with learning like the REA tests do.
I would buy the REA book and take those tests and really read the detailed answers for the questions you answered incorrectly. There is a Petersons practice test PDF in here too. I linked to it, just search for it and you will find it. That should also be used to determine if you are ready and not as a study guide.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I have also taken the Peterson's practice tests and got 61% 63% and 64% .... I'm taking the Biology Clep on Thursday....wish me luck!
 Any tips on last minute review?...IC flashcards?

FACT: Approx. 1/2 the questions on the test must be successfully answered to get a 50, or a pass. THE HYPOTHESIS: In a 100 question test, such as Sociology and many others, there are only 60 possible points (between 20-80) for 100 questions. 60 points divided by 100 questions = .6pts If each questions is worth .6 points, 50 correct questions = 50q X .6pts = 30pts You must add 20 since 0 correct questions = 20pts. 30 points + 20 points = 50 points, or a pass. Now: If each point in a 100 question test is worth .6 points, 100 questions X .6 points = 60; 60 + 20 = 80. By this formula, answering 75 questions correctly would translate to a score of 65.

Of course, different versions (editions?) of the same test are weighted differently. One version may have a lot of "easy" questions, and therefore you may have to get 85 questions right to get the above score, whereas on the "hard" one you may only need 65 to get the same score. At least that's what I understand about CLEPs from reading here and elsewhere.
But of course, Shoto's advice is solid from a practical standpoint.
