Pierpont BOG AAS Update (Re: Transcripts)

So is it just the AAS certificate or can you get transcripts without taking any classes?

You get the degree with transcripts now. They changed their policy. I earned my degree before the policy change and requested and received my transcripts recently without taking any courses at Pierpont.

I presume that you need to have been out of school for at least 2 years because fresh HS grads have more "automatic" college universities than someone who graduated HS, did a few university classes, and then had to drop out due to financial or other issues. If you've been out of HS for less than 2 years (or are still in HS), there are other options for Associate degrees: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/As...7s_Degrees But, at that point, you might as well go straight to a Bachelor's degree in most cases.

It's a program/degree specifically to help working adults finish a degree, usually after decades of not having found another way to get a degree.

I've never heard of anyone who hasn't been out of high school doing the Pierpont BOG degree. No one has reported that in any of the Pierpont threads or googling I've done about the program. There's countless options and scholarships for recently graduated high schoolers... many could benefit more from other options, from the scholarships to the 'college experience'/socialization. A few colleges in my state offer first time freshmen free tuition with an average GPA. I couldn't get that as an adult returning student. I wish I was a first time freshmen who graduated within 2 years... so many good options for those, but very few (or none quite like Pierpont BOG) for adult returning students. A teen freshmen could do a lot of Sophia/similar then do Excelsior, TESU, or COSC... but if I was a teen, I would utilize better scholarship opportunities that local colleges offer.

If they'd otherwise have issues getting a regular Associate's degree, the 1-2 years will give them time to collect all of the required credits with less pressure than a "normal" school.

Exactly. They would struggle under normally scheduled courses, deadlines, time management, too many projects/details to remember. Their success would be more apt to happen if able to go with as much self paced as possible. It could actually take them even longer than 20 yrs old to reach the goal of achieving this degree, but I want to encourage them even if it takes a few yrs longer. I just hope it's still available when they're ready !

If it's not available, at least they should be able to move on to a degree from one of the Big3! That wouldn't be free, but at least there are options.
