Pierpont BOG AAS Update (Re: Transcripts)

I know the ACE transcript can take a while to be evaluated, but how long do RA credits generally take to be evaluated and added to ROAR? I sent some RA credits a few weeks ago.

Anyone else have any feedback on this?  It seems to be taking about a month for electronic transcripts sent to Pierpont to show up in ROAR.

For whatever it may be worth, a transcript sent via Parchment from Frederick Community College on November 12 just showed up in ROAR on January 29.

After a bit of research I'm curious if there is a reason most people seem to gravitate to Pierpont to get this degree when it is awarded by any of the Community or Technical Colleges in WV.  

For example, it would seem to me to be a bit more prestigious to get the degree from West Virginia University at Parkersburg.     It's listed on their website as well.   https://www.wvup.edu/future-students/aca...governors/

I'm curious if anyone has used a different school other than Pierpont for this degree and could relay their experience.

Pierpont doesn't have any requirements to take classes from their school. You have to take 3 credits from Parkersburg.

Gotcha.   That makes sense and I missed that. 

I guess if you need the RA credits it still may be an option depending on cost.   Thanks for the quick response.

That's the bottom line.

I can't speak for everyone, but as a non-WV resident, the cost of that one three-credit class ($1,074) is more than my entire AAS budget from start to finish.  And here in Connecticut, the difference in prestige between an AAS from WVU Parkersburg or Pierpont C&TC will never budge the employment needle.

"Prestigious" and "AAS" don't really go together.  Nobody cares where you got your Associates degree.

I don't dispute that at all.  I probably didn't word that in the best fashion. 

However, I think that for some people, especially those earning a degree in the latter part of their working career and just doing it more for personal fulfillment, there at least exists a possibility that they would take more pride in a degree with the name WVU at Parkersburg on their diploma than the name of a local CC despite the fact that the former is also a CC.   

Perhaps my view is a bit jaded by the fact that I grew up in WV (don't live there and haven't for many years) and the WVU name is something the locals take a lot of pride in for various reasons.   I am aware the degree isn't from WVU at Morgantown (the BIG school in the state).   But I think in some cases the degree would mean just a bit more to some folks with that name. 

Anyway, I was just curious if anyone had used any of the other schools in WV.   So far it sounds like Pierpont is the choice due to no classes being required there, and that's very understandable.

I think it would be a bit different if any of the other WV schools had less expensive classes available. But, even before TEL and Olivet entered the scene, you could get relatively cheap RA credits at places like Luna and NMJC.

I remember previously on the forum reading about West Virginia Northern Community College offering the BOG AAS. I just started looking into it again for a family member and then saw this thread. Is there any difference between NCC and PierPont? Advantage of one or the other?
