shelbaline4 Wrote:I am studying for the Modern Middle East exam for next week and wanted to see if anyone could give me advice on the IC flashcards and this particular exam. The information on the flashcards seems very broad and I was wondering if there were particular sections that I should pay particular attention to and if there were any that are really not covered too much on the exam.
This is my last exam and the material just seems so daunting....
My advice is:
- First of all, don't freak out. The test wasn't that bad. The feedback thread for this one is far too frightening for the test, imo, almost like most of them sat for it without studying!
- Next, listen to clep101; he's the best!
- Also, check out the practice test at Free-CLEP-Prep. It's awesome.
- In addition to that, I read "A History of the Modern Middle East" by William Cleveland, and started to read "The Modern Middle East: A History" by James Gelvin (but didn't get very far into it). Personally, I don't really think I needed to read the books, but you never can tell exactly how much you relied - or didn't - on a certain resource, you know.
Anyway, don't worry. I've pretty much posted what all I used to study here, but just in case you want to take a peek yourself, here's the blog post I wrote after taking this test. Introduction to the Modern Middle East DSST « Reformed TN Girl
Good luck! You'll do great!
