The Navy also awards points towards promotion for education. For those familiar with the Navy advancement system, an Associate will add 2 points to your final multiple. A Bachelor will add 4 points. These points are not cumulative; i.e., getting 6 points for an Associate and Bachelor. More points are not awarded for higher degrees. The Masters degree I am working on will still only get me the maximum 4 points I already have because of my Bachelor. These education points do not count as award points, but rather add to the final total. The ONLY way to get these points is with a degree from a RA or NA college.
