The IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) have recently launched a couple of new programs:
1. IIT Madras BS in Electronic Systems (launched September 2023; ~USD $7,000; proprietary LMS + has compulsory on-campus lab sessions)
2. IIT Guwahati BSc (Hons) in Data Science and AI (launched mid 2023; ~USD $4,000; Coursera)
This is in addition to a number of existing courses, including:
- The very popular IITM BS in Data Science and Applications (~USD $4,000), which now has about 29,000 students.
- A Coursera-hosted BSc (Hons) in Computer Science by BITS Pilani (~USD $4,000 to $6,000), a very prestigious STEM university in India.
- The (also Coursera-hosted) MBA in Business Analytics (~$1,900) by Jindal University, which I believe is the cheapest online government-recognised masters on the market.
There are, apparently, over 500 online degrees now accredited by the Indian government. I checked out some of the degrees mentioned in the link, and it seems like degrees from other universities aren't that much cheaper than the IIT/BITS Pilani courses (at least USD $3,000), despite being from lower-tier/ranked universities.
Does anyone know of any cheaper online courses from Indian universities? I wouldn't mind enrolling in a program that's less than a thousand dollars a year, just for fun.
