I'm unaware of the US educational system, but from what I understand, the UMPI transcription would just have a longer transcription list of subjects?
That would potentialy "transform" the Sophia credits, which are possibly not as widely recognisible, to UMPI Degree credits.
Extra alt credit beyond the 90 will end up on your transcript, but that doesn't "transform" them into real credits. However, it can be useful for employers or governmental bodies that want to see certain coursework. For example, getting a CPA license requires extra coursework beyond the required bachelor's degree. Alt credit on a college transcript can fulfill that requirement in some states.
