Liberal Studies is a generic degree, and gaining extra credit to obtain it after you've obtain a true degree in 'something' (your case foreign language) serves no practical or professional purpose. This is probably correct. The only reason I would do it, is because I have many credits and have both requirement satisfied.
If you list all your credits (separate by school, and show course #, full course name, number of credits, & grade), we can tell you if you've met both requirements. You can only have 9cr overlapping between the two AoS's, so that's tricky to navigate.
You could also just opt for a certificate instead of a BALS w/concentration.
I'm not sure how it works for the BALS/CS + Foreign Language. If you can only have 9cr of overlap, and I think this includes the capstone, then you'd complete the foreign language degree, and then have to have an additional 36cr of CompSci + Liberal Arts courses (and a max of 6cr of 100-level courses in each degree).
Again, if you list your courses, we can help more.
AND, if you just want an undergrad certificate, it's exactly the same as the BALS/CS - 18cr of CS courses, with 9cr of that being specific required courses and then 9cr being CS electives. Exactly the same, without having to jump through any hoops.
So instead of having this:
BA in Foreign Language
BA in Liberal Studies with a concentration in CompSci
You'd have this:
BA in Foreign Language
Undergrad Certificate in CompSci
Also, I'm not entirely certain TESU will allow the BALS/CS and BA in Foreign Language. They used to not allow dual degrees where one was the BALS - it had to be more specific. I don't know if they've changed their policy, but it's something you'd want to check on.
Ok, so attached are my current academic evaluations for both degrees. My Eng Comp II, Oral Communication class, and Ethics class aren't synced yet, but will be once I register for a class.
I am currently at Middlebury College for a summer semester until August 18th taking:
SPAN-3301 Advanced Intermediate Spanish
SPAN-3434 Literature & Culture of Hispanic Texts
SPAN-3438 Sport in the Hispanic World
I was seeing that I could take the Java class on sophia to satisfy the programming requirement for the CS concentration, and 2 other classes on SDC for the other 2 computer courses.
If you know of a major better to pursue that can be finished relatively fast with what credits I have, I am open to suggestions. I am also open to other concentrations.
