Is the final capstone course for the IT, software engineering, or CS major hard?

For the papers do you have to cite scienfitic research papers or are articles on something like tomsguide.com okay? How many pages is a paper you're supposed to write supposed to be? At WGU I only have to cite for the final capstone course and I think that's it, I would be doing most of the courses with Sophia, SDC, etc. like the links I mentioned.
