I also wonder if the degree will be with an "affiliated" school that's independently accredited like UAGC. Or like Harvard Extension School where you must tell your prospective employer that the degree was obtained by an Extension School. Stuff like that could make it lose its luster.

I think they'll sign a contract with one of the universities in the list.
The universities are:
UIUC
UC Santa Cruz
University of Georgia
University of Arizona
University of Maryland
etc ...
but it could be that they turn into an extension program like you said.
