IMO, if you have to explain what the degree is, you're behind the 8 ball.

This is why I shied away from a Master of Legal Studies, which was my original program of interest.
The degree name didn't appeal to me.
I also thought I'd get a lot of "So, you're a lawyer?" and/or "Why didn't you just go to law school?"
